The effect of heat stress is caused by high ambient temperature and high relative humidity (Kadzere et al., 2002). At high temperature several physiological changes occur in dairy cow and they attempt to facilitate heat dissipation, if they failure of homeostasis of high temperature may lead to reduce productivity or even death (Kamal et al., 2018).

Hydrocephaly can be defined as dropsical condition of the brain owing to abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the cranial cavity. This present case reports the successful management of dystocia due to live hydrocephalus fetus in a Jersey crossbred cow.

The present study was done on eighteen cows with a history of milk flow disorders under conventional milking pattern, divided into 3 groups of 6 animals each based on the type of obstructive lesion viz; focal (TypeI), Diffuse (Type II) and membranous (Type III) respectively. Out of 18 cows 17 were crossbred jersey and one was crossbred Holstein Friesian aged between 3.5-7 years presented during 2nd -4 th lactation and maintained with calves alive and all were suckling except one. In the present study, teat obstruction was noticed predominantly on right fore teat.

Johne’s disease (Paratuberculosis), a debilitating chronic granulomatous enteritis of domesticated and wild ruminants that causes huge economic and production losses to the dairy farmers. A six-year-old Jersey crossbred cow was presented with a history of chronic diarrhoea, gradual weight loss, reduction in milk yield and poor response to therapy. Based on history, clinical examination, ZiehlNeelsen staining and IS900 polymerase chain reaction of the faeces the case was diagnosed as Johne’s disease.

Though low solid-not-fat syndrome (SNF) is not a major problem in indigenous breeds like Amit Mahal, in Holstein Friesian and Jersey cross breed cows low SNF is of economic concern to the farmers as the price of the milk is based on the content of SNF. The study was undertaken to determine and compare the serum metabolic profile in indigenous cattle like Amrit Mahal and Holstein Friesian crossbred and Jersey crossbred cows. Selected animals were grouped based on the breed as Group I (Amrit Mahal), Group II (Holstein Friesian crossbred) and Group III (Jersey crossbred cows).

The major objectives of the present study were to estimate the incidence of hoof disorders and to identify the various risk factors associated with the hoof disorders in crossbred dairy cattle maintained under field conditions in the state of Karnataka, India. A total of 204 crossbred dairy cattle were investigated for hoof disorders. The overall incidence of hoof disorders was found to be 30.4%. The Holstein Friesian crossbred dairy cows (36.2%) were more vulnerable to hoof disorders than Jersey crossbred dairy cows (20.8%).

Monthly data of 4 cows of Jersey and 4 cows of Holstein Friesian crossbred cows on milk yield of seven lactations and for different months were analyzed for the present study which were collected from Dairy Farm of Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry NauniSolan, Himachal Pradesh. Different variability parameters were estimated separately for both cross breeds and also the stability analysis was carried out to study the performance of different lactations and months with respect to milk yield.
