Speech therapy uses a combination of approaches to assess speech and language, including analysis of spontaneous speech, use of standardized scales and assessment by the child’s parents and/or preschool teachers. In this paper, we present the Teddy Talk Test. Using a sample of sixteen children aged 4 to 5 years, we examined whether the test provided representative data on child language development.

Adrenal insufficiency is a life-threatening condition, and advanced gastric cancer is associated with very poor prognosis. Adrenalectomy and/or metastatic invasion of the adrenal glands can cause primary adrenal insufficiency, which in turn can present with symptoms mimicking advanced cancer.

Orthodontic treatment involves movement of teeth by compression and resorption of the alveolar bone using orthodontic forces. These movements are closely linked to the interactions between the teeth and the periodontal tissues that support them. Owing to an increase in adults seeking orthodontic treatment, orthodontists increasingly encounter patients with periodontal diseases, in whom orthodontic treatment is contraindicated. In rare cases, periodontitis may develop after treatment initiation.

Patients receiving immune checkpoint inhibitors have been reported to develop autoimmune endocrine diseases, including type 1 diabetes, although few drugs have been shown to induce type 1 diabetes. Additionally, it is important to note that drugs other than immune checkpoint inhibitors could lead to the development of type 1 diabetes.

For the treatment of hypothyroidism, patients are usually placed on lifelong levothyroxine replacement therapy. Achieving clinical and biochemical euthyroid status is sometimes difficult because of several factors, including poor compliance or poor absorption of levothyroxine in the gut mucosa.

Retinoblastoma is an intraocular cancer of infancy and childhood, which has been treated with radia‑ tion therapy and chemotherapy. Radiation on growing patients can cause deterioration in maxillofacial growth and development that leads to severe skeletal discrepancies between the maxilla and mandible, and dental problems such as crossbite, openbite, and hypodontia.

Skin and soft tissue infections are common because of exposure to aquatic environment, while severe infections caused by Aeromonas veronii are rare. Early diagnosis, surgical intervention, and administration of appropriate antibiotics are crucial for patients who are suspected of having skin and soft tissue infection, or septicemia caused by Aeromonas veronii.

Adjuvant systemic therapy decreases recurrence and death from breast cancer, but late relapse still occurs. Therapeutic decisions are based heavily on receptor tissue characterization. Even though the vast majority of metastatic sites do not have receptor conversions, they can occur at the time of metastasis and/or during the course of treatment.

Multiple sclerosis is a diffuse chronic demyelinating disease of the central nervous system. It is relatively uncommon in the Asian population and even more so in males. Despite the usual involvement of the brainstem, eight-and-a-half syndrome remains a rare first presentation in multiple sclerosis.

In recent years, the number of patients with ischemic skin ulcers due to diabetes mellitus and arteriosclerosis obliterans are increasing. Accordingly, endovascular therapy, drugs, and various wound dressings have been developed and applied to diabetic foot ulcers, and negative-pressure wound therapy, which often requires expensive and burdensome procedures for medical personnel, has also become popular.

Strongyloidiasis is a soil-transmitted helminthiasis mainly caused by Strongyloides stercoralis. It is endemic to the tropics and subtropics. Sri Lanka has a 0–1.6% prevalence rate. S. stercoralis infection was identified in a 33-year-old Sri Lankan male patient treated with corticosteroids for borderline lepromatous leprosy with adrenocortical dysfunction.

Gout is the most prevalent form of arthritis that arises due to hyperuricemia. Xanthine oxidase inhibitors (XOI) are usually prescribed to treat gout. Although treatment options are available, these therapies are associated with side effects, and natural remedies may be proven helpful in this regard. This systematic review aims to present consolidated information on the xanthine oxidase inhibition potential of the plants located in Pakistan.

The working mechanism of the chemotherapeutic drug doxorubicin, which is frequently used in cancer treatment, its effects on cell metabolism, and pathways activated solely by doxorubicin are not fully known. Understanding these principles is important both in improving existing therapies and in finding new drug targets. Here, I describe a systems-biology approach to find a generalizable working principle for doxorubicin by superimposition of human interactome over gene datasets commonly expressed among various cancer types.

Despite extensive pharmacological approaches, there is no curative therapy for Alzheimer’s disease (AD) or other types of dementias. While current pharmacological options alleviate some symptoms of AD, they can lead to various adverse effects. Hence, nonpharmacological treatment options for AD are often considered with the assumption that they are safe, effective, and economic in managing patients.

A phthalocyanine–fluorescein conjugate was designed and prepared. Its photophysical properties (electronic absorption and fluorescence) were determined and compared with those of an analogous derivative functionalized by a simple triazole without chromophore. It is likely to be used as a theranostic agent in photodynamic therapy.
