High density planting system have the potential for increased yields in high yielding, high input production systems. To attain higher yields in high density planting system in cotton relative to conventional spaced cotton must depend on increased biomass production or partitioning to boll.

Cyantraniliprole 10% OD at 90 g a.i.ha-1 was significantly effective when sprayed twice at 15 days interval, minimized the sucking pests population and increased cotton kapas yield. Cyantraniliprole 10% OD treatments at 90, 180 and 320 g a.i. ha-1 concentrations had not caused any phytotoxic effects like injury to leaf tip, leaf surface, wilting, vein clearing, necrosis, epinasty and hyponasty. Cyantraniliprole 10% (w/v) OD showed the least effect against the spiders.

Crop diversification with resource efficient and remunerative cropping systems is a sustainable agricultural practice. On farm demonstrations with diversified cropping system of Redgram + soybean Vis-a-Vis farmers’ practice of sole cotton were conducted in ten farmer’s locations of Warangal district of Telangana state. Crop diversification with red gram + soybean realized 29.9% higher (3706 kg ha-1 ) mean cotton kapas equivalent yield over farmer’s practice of cultivation of sole cotton (2852 kg ha-1 ). Mean technology and extension gap were 594 kg ha-1 and 854 kg ha-1 respectively.

A field experiment entitled “Effect of nutrient and irrigation levels on nutrient uptake, water and nutrient use efficiency, and kapas yield of cotton in Southern Dry Zone of Karnataka” was conducted during kharif 2016 at Zonal Agricultural Research Station, V. C. Farm, Mandya.
