His pen names included Clark Collins, Mark Mallory, Guy McCord, Dallas Ross and Maxine Reynolds. Many of his stories were published in Galaxy Magazine and Worlds of If Magazine. Third, the nature of gender inequalities varies from region to region and country to country. For example, in most middle-income countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, gender disparities in primary school enrollments are very small and, in some cases, favor girls over boys. Anesthesia management is markedly influenced by pregnancy. Pregnancy-induced physiologic alterations may be compounded by labor, pregnancy-associated conditions (e.g., pregnancy-induced hypertension), or intercurrent disease states of the mother or fetus (e.g., heart disease, pulmonary hypertension, diabetes, or isoimmunization). The pregnancy alterations most influencing anesthesia are those of the cardiovascular, pulmonary, and gastrointestinal systems. At term, cardiac output is increased by 30%–40% above nonpregnant levels in the absence of aortocaval compression.

The Japanese economy achieved high growth rates in 2006, particularly in the corporate sector in the first half of the year. The middle of 2006 brought a slowdown, especially in consumer spending. In general, however, corporate performance held steady, labor supply was tight and the economy overall did not slow significantly. The economic growth phase that began in January 2002 is virtually certain to be statistically verified as having marked its 58th consecutive month in November 2006, making it the longest period of growth in postwar Japan.
