Laminated composite beams

This study introduces a novel Ritz approximation function to analyze the free vibrations of laminated composite shallow curved beams. The methodology utilizes polynomial functions-based Fibonacci series to develop the Ritz’s approximation function. The displacement field aligns with the high-order shear deformation theory designed explicitly for shallow curved beams.

In this paper, an improved version of Differential Evolution algorithm, called iDE, is introduced to solve design optimization problems of composite laminated beams. The beams used in this research are Timoshenko beam models computed based on analytical formula.

Objectives of the thesis: The literature review on the behaviours of composite beams shows that Ritz method is efficient to analyse the behaviours of composite beams with various boundary conditions, however, the number of researches used this method is still limited.
