  • The present study was conducted to know the knowledge of dairy animal owners in animal breeding practices a field survey in Surat district (Mahuva, Mandvi, Umarpada and Mangrol talukas. From each talukas three villages (60 cattle owners) were selected to take the observation related to the study. The present study revealed that majority of dairy farmers were belonged to middle to old age group, educate up to primary and secondary level, marginal to small land holdings, rearing animals up to 10.

  • The research work entitled “Economics of Brinjal production in Dhamtari Block of Chhattisgarh – An Economic Analysis.’’ was carried out with a view to estimate the costs and returns in brinjal production. Five Villages from Dhamtari block were selected purposively on the basis of area under brinjal crop. After selection of this villages, a list of brinjal growing farmers were prepared and further categorized into three size group on the basis of size of land holding, i.e. small farmer (up to 2.0 ha), medium farmer (2.01 to 4 ha), From each size group 20 farmers were selected randomly.

  • A study was conducted in Navsari district of South Gujarat to know the level of information seeking behaviour of animal enterprise holders of FIGs. A sample of 120 FIGs members was selected for the study. This study revealed that majority (84.17 per cent) of the FIGs members had medium level of information seeking behaviour followed by those with lower level (14.17 per cent) and higher level (1.67 per cent) information seeking behaviour.

  • The research study was conducted during the year 2015 to study relationship between the personal, socio-economic and psychological characteristics and livelihood security of the tribal farmers in high altitude tribal zone of Karnataka state. The study revealed that education, land holding, annual income, extension contact, mass media exposure, social participation, economic orientation, risk orientation and level of aspiration had shown positively significant relationship and fatalism had shown negatively significant relationship with livelihood security of tribal farmers.

  • This paper reviews the past studies in order to identify those socio-economic, institutional and technical factors that explain adoption or lack of it for understanding the success or failure of these SWC measures. The results showed that educational level of the household head, awareness, age, land holding size, perceptions about soil erosion, access to credit; land tenure, offfarm employment and income, information sources and extension contact significantly affect farmers' adoption decision and the extent of soil and water conservation measures.
