In this study, we evaluated the use potential and suitability of 27 land mapping units of 4,891 ha in Antakya for three different land use types: (1) recreation- reforestation, (2) residence and (3) arable farming. For this purpose, land suitability evaluation was carried out using soil and land data, the fiENOL land evaluation system, and a PC compatible ILSEN software package.

A high degree of collaboration is often involved in creating public sculpture. Central collaborators are the sculptor and owner, typically a commissioning agency or developer. Architects and landscape architects can be artistic collaborators or part of the design team. Art object conservators, engineers and other consultants play a role in selecting materials and reviewing maintenance strategies or design aspects. Other advisory bodies and community groups may be part of the collaborative process.

A good example of this merging and perceptual elevation is Dunescape, the project that won MoMAI P.S.l's Young Architects Program the year before Massie's Playa Urbana/Urban Beach. Designed and built by by SHoP Architects, Dunescape is an architecturalized landscape built completely as a series of parallel, stacked dimensional lumber. While manual labor was required to cut, assemble, and fasten the pieces in the actual construction, the methodology was completely digitally driven.

When I saw the plans, my immediate impression was.... unbelievable. I thought this can’t be The Cotswolds. It must be California or Switzerland or anywhere else on the globe where good, modern architecture seems to happen naturally. But I was wrong. It is believable and it’s really happening in Gloucestershire. Masterpiece architecture is exciting enough wherever it is built, but there’s something extraordinary here.We are in the deeply conservative English countryside.

The goal of the transportation designer is to fit the highway or other facility into the adjacent landscape in a way that is complementary to, and enhances, the existing landscape.
