In a randomized controlled trial (RCT) with 8402 stable low birth weight (LBW) infants, majority being late preterm or term small for gestational age, community-initiated KMC (ciKMC) showed a significant improvement in survival.

Preterm birth and infection are common causes of neonatal death. In this study, we aimed to develop a nomogram for assessing the individual prior probability of late-onset sepsis on the basis of risk factors in preterm infants. This study is a mixed retrospective and prospective cohort study conducted in three centers. Data from January 2014 to December 2017 was used for the development cohort, and data from January 2018 to December 2018 was used for the validation cohort.

Neonates are immune-compromised individuals who are prone to infection. Neonatal sepsis has significant morbidity and mortality. This study is a retrospective study to assess the most important bacteria and the risk factors responsible for bloodstream in infection in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Mansoura University Hospital, Egypt.

Infants born at 34+0 to 36+6 weeks gestation are defined as ‘late preterm’ infants. It is not clear whether these babies can be managed on the postnatal ward (PNW) or routinely need to be admitted to the neonatal unit after birth. Aim: To conduct a national

Volvulus without malrotation in preterm infants is a rare but potentially life-threatening event of unknown aetiology. Confusion with necrotising enterocolitis may delay surgical intervention thereby aggravating morbidity and mortality.

Late preterm birth accounts for 70 % of all preterm births. While the impact of feeding problems in very preterm infants has been widely investigated, data on late preterm infants’ feeding issues are scarce.

Late preterm infants account for the majority of preterm births. They are at an increased risk of neonatal mortality and morbidity and are less likely to initiate breastfeeding and to be exclusively breastfed at discharge compared to infants born at term.

Measurement of transcutaneous bilirubin (TcB) is a quick, reliable and painless method to guide management of hyperbilirubinemia. Studies in term and late preterm infants have found that TcB measurements from covered areas (TcB-C) during phototherapy (PHT) co-relate well with serum bilirubin levels.

Late preterm infants, previously considered low risk, have been identified to be at risk of developmental problems in infancy and early childhood. There is limited information on the outcome of these infants in low and middle income countries.

This population is at high risk of morbidity and mortality in the first years of life. Other studies reported that they are also at risk of long-term developmental problem. Therefore, the aim of this study is to describe the neurodevelopmental and emotional-behavioral outcome in a sample of late preterm patients.

Survival of preterm neonates has steadily improved over the past five decades, due to changes in the neonatal intensive care. However, in Saudi Arabia, there are no written guidelines on the definition of the lower limit of viability, and there has been a call for such a limit.
