A field experiment was conducted on a sandy clay loam soil at college farm of Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad, Telangana during the kharif seasons of 2014 and 2015 to study the nutrient uptake of rice varieties as influenced by combination of plant densities and fertilizers under late sown condition.

Results of the experiment revealed that, higher growth parameters and yield were observed in direct seeding by drum seeder over direct seeding by broadcasting and the least were observed in conventional transplanting under late sown conditions. Application of 100 % recommended nitrogen i.e., (120 kg ha-1 ) for both varieties (RNR-15048 and JGL-18047) was found to be optimum even under late sown conditions.

In the present investigation HUR 105 genotype was selected to see the effect of hydro and hormonal seed priming on growth and development of rice crop. Priming of seeds has been done with distilled water (hydro) and two hormones (Kinetin and salicylic acid) and different growth parameters, such as plant height, number of tillers hill-1 , number of green leaves hill-1 , leaf area hill-1 and leaf area index were studied at different study periods under timely and late sown conditions. Primed seeds increased all the growth parameters in respect to non-primed (control) sets.

In the present investigation rice genotype HUR-105 was selected to see the effect of seed priming on yield attributes and grain quality of rice. Priming of seeds has been done with distilled water (hydro), Mg(NO3)2 salt (halo) and kinetin (T3), salicylic acid (hormonal) and different parameters, such as grains panicle-1 , test weight, harvest index, panicle number hill-1 , panicle length and amylose content were studied at different study periods with respect to two sowing conditions, representing timely and late sowing of rice crop.

In the present investigation rice genotype HUR 105 was selected to see the effect of seed priming on the activity of antioxidant enzymes and changes of biochemicalsof rice under timely and late sown conditions. Priming of seeds has been done with distilled water (hydro), Mg(NO3)2 salt (halo), kinetin and salicylic acid (hormonal) and activities of SOD and nitrate reductase, ascorbate peroxidise proline and protein contents were studied at different study periods with respect to two sowing conditions, representing timely and late sowing of rice crop.

Early sowing of rice by 20 June produced significantly the highest grain yield followed by normal (5 July) and late sowings (20 July) and the yield of its stubble crop also followed the similar trend. The combined grain yields of early sown rice-ratoon and the rice equivalent yield (REY) of early sown green gram was significantly higher by 8.64% and 23.74% than normal and late sowings, respectively in rice-ratoon-green gram system. The combined REY in modified system of rice intensification (MSRI)-ratoon-green gram system was 7.33% and 33.

Wheat crop is primarily grown in temperate regions and also at higher altitude under tropical climatic areas in winter season. It is the single most important cereal crop that has been considered as integral component of the food security system of the several nations. The productivity wheat in eastern Uttar Pradesh is very low which might be due to the adoption of cereal- cereal (Rice-Wheat) cropping system, Irrigation, poor weed management, poor soil health and imbalance fertilizer used.

A field experiment was conducted during rabi seasons of 2016-17 and 2017-18 at the Instructional-cum-Research (ICR) Farm, Assam agricultural university, Jorhat, India to evaluate the effect of tillage, mulching and integrated nutrient management practices on soil moisture conservation and yield of late sown toria after harvest of winter rice. The experiment was laid out in a split-plot design with three replications.

A field experiment was conducted during autumn season of 2016-17 and 2017-18 to study the effect of micro climatic regimes and nitrogen management on growth, yield attributes and yield of direct seeded rice. The experiment was laid out in factorial randomized block design with three replications. The treatment consisted of four micro climatic regimes i.e., M1, M2, M3, M4 and N management (N1: 100 % RDF of N as inorganic; N2: 75% N as inorganic + 0.5 t/ha vermicompost (V.C.); N3: 50 % N as inorganic + 1.0 t/ha V.C.; N4: 25% N as inorganic + 1.5 t/ha V.C.).
