The study "Biochar mitigates salt stress by regulating nutrient uptake and antioxidant activity, alleviating the oxidative stress and abscisic acid content in cabbage seedlings" was conducted as factorial completely randomized design with two factors; salinity levels (0 and 150 mM NaCl) and biochar doses (weighed at the rate of 0%, 2.5%, and 5% by soil weight). Growth parameters such as stem diameter, leaf area, shoot fresh weight, root fresh weight, shoot dry weight, and root dry weight of cabbage seedlings treated with 150 mM NaCl were lower than the control.

The objective was to understand how the additional nutritional dynamics associated with crayfish influence the basil crop. Both fresh and dry basil plant weights were collected after harvest, followed by leaf nutrient analysis. Leaf chlorophyll content, water pH, nitrogen and temperature were measured periodically.

The aim of this study was to verify the effects of application of H2O2 on salt tolerance and oil production in basil cv. ‘Gennaro de Menta’ grown in a hydroponic system. Seedlings were subjected to 3 levels of H2O2 (0, 1, and 1000 μM) in a nutrient solution during 2 different exposure periods (24 and 48 h) and 2 levels of NaCl (0 and 80 mM). The plants were harvested at preflowering (at 15 days) and postflowering (at 25 days). At 25 days, the application of 1 μM H2O2 /48 h and its reapplication at preflowering increased leaf dry mass production compared to the other salt treatments.

Galls or the neoplastic growth on plants result from a complex type of interaction between the inducers (Acari, Insects, Microbes and Nematodes) and plants. The present study sheds light on the gall inducing habit of a highly host specific eriophyid mite, Aceria pongamiae, on the leaves of Pongamia pinnata leading to the production of abnormal pouch like outgrowths on the adaxial and abaxial surfaces of the foliage.

The non-structural carbohydrates (NSCs), carbon (C), nitrogen (N), and phosphorus (P) are important energy source or nutrients for all plant growth and metabolism. S. superba is better adapted to low light condition than C. lanceolata through enlarged leaf area and increased carbohydrate reserves that allow the plant to cope with low light stress.

In India and other countries of the Mediterranean region, it is primarily used as a spice crop (Acharya et al., 2008) to the flavour and nutritive value of food. Its fresh tender leaves and stems are consumed as curried vegetable. Commercially, it has high economic value as food, fodder and medicine. For medicinal and cosmetic purpose, its leaf and seed is used to prepare extract and powder. The leaves both fresh and dried are used in meat curries and several vegetable dishes.

This study clearly showed the benefit of P availability in combination with Rhizobium on leaf area, leghaemoglobin content, nitrate reductase activities of leaves and nodules, fresh and dry weight of nodules and fresh weights of stem + leaves at vegetative and flowering stages. Yield components, pod number and seed number were significantly increased by P availability by fertilizer alone and in combination with Rhizobium or through Rhizobium +Microphos.

Maydis leaf blight caused by Biopolaris maydis is highly destructive diseases of maize crop worldwide including India. Depending upon weather conditions they cause the significant yield reduction ranging from 28 to 91 % in maize crop. Hot and humid conditions preferred by Maydis leaf blight. It is present in all tropical and temperate maize growing regions. Growing conditions creating hot and humid condition are most advantageous for the development of the disease.
