Barbarea vulgaris is a wild cruciferous plant and include two distinct types: the G- and P-types named after their glabrous and pubescent leaves, respectively. The types differ significantly in resistance to a range of insects and diseases as well as glucosinolates and other chemical defenses.

The present investigation was conducted with thirty four spine gourd (Momordica dioica Roxb.) genotypes for evaluate their performance for various quantitative as well as qualitative characters. All the qualitative characters viz. fruit colour, fruit shape, leaf colour, leaf margin, leaf pubescence, stem colour, spine strength, conical spine density, pedicel attachment with the fruit, node colour, collection site showed wide variation.

Seventy eight bird chilli genotypes were screened against leaf curl virus. Leaf curl disease scoring was done at 30th, 60th and 90th days after planting (DAP) based on visual symptoms of each observational plant. Initial screening was done under field conditions based on vulnerability index score (0 to 4 scale), disease reaction to each genotype was assigned based on Leaf pubescence which can be observed on the youngest mature leaves and it was classified as sparse (3), intermediate (5) and dense (7).

The preset investigation was consisted of evaluation of 92 finger millet accessions for qualitative morphological descriptors at Pantnagar Centre for Plant Genetic Resource, G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar. Observations were recorded for sixteen qualitative characters on visual basis at different stages of development, as per DUS guidelines standardized by PPV&FR. Out of 92 accessions, most of the accessions exhibited erect growth (50 %), droopy ears (27.14%), dark green glume (58.70 %), non-pigmented leaf juncture (67.30 %), non-pubescent leaf sheath (33.

Plant hairiness or pubescence as a specific phenotypical feature related to dehydration tolerance and resistance to leaf vermin is considered in this paper. A method for the isolation of trichomes, earlier developed for Arabidopsis Heynh., was found to be appropriate for the separation of similar polarised cells from pubescent wheat, Triticum aestivum L., lines, as well as some other higher plant species

Scorzonera zorkunensis Coskuncelebi & S.Makbul (Asteraceae) is described and illustrated from Turkey. It grows on serpentine in alpine steppe vegetation together with several endemic Scorzonera L. species in southern Anatolia at altitudes of 2075-2100 m. It is morphologically similar to S. pisidica Hub.-Mor., but it differs in its habit and stem and leaf pubescence.
