The Francois’ Langur (Trachypithecus francoisi) is an endangered primate belonging to subfamily Colobinae. The species was historically widespread in seven northern provinces of Viet Nam. Ba Be National Park is located in Vietnam’s northern mountains, and is a home to several small groups of T. francoisi. The objective of these surveys is to reveal distribution, group size and threats to species and its habitats.

A new species Pseudocercospora solanicola is discovered causing severe leaf spot disease on Solanum nigrum from Sonebhadra. Species is described and illustrated based on morphology, molecular sequence analysis and phylogeny of the large subunit (LSU) and internal transcribed spacer region of the nuclear ribosomal RNA (rRNA) gene. Morphologically, new species has similarity with allied species in Pseudocercospora but differs in having black circular, velvety leaf spot and size of stromata, conidia and conidiophores. A key to Pseudocercospora species on Solanum has been provided.

Today, nanoparticles are effectively used in different areas. Initially, physical and chemical methods were used in the synthesis of nanoparticles. Biosynthesis (green synthesis) has emerged as an alternative to overcome the toxic effects of chemically synthesized nanoparticles. In this study, green synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) with the leaf extract of Anthurium andraeanum was performed. UV-Vis spectrophotometry, scanning transmission electron microscopy, and XRD were applied to characterize the biosynthesized nanoparticles.

Most Distylium species are endangered. Distylium species mostly display homoplasy in their flowers and fruits, and are classified primarily based on leaf morphology. However, leaf size, shape, and serration vary tremendously making it difficult to use those characters to identify most species and a significant challenge to address the taxonomy of Distylium.

Organ shape and size covariation (allometry) factors are essential concepts for the study of evolution and development. Although ample research has been conducted on organ shape and size, little research has considered the correlated variation of these two traits and quantitatively measured the variation in a common framework.

Chilli (Capsicum annuum L.) is an important crop grown worldwide for its use as spice and vegetable. Murda complex is the most destructive syndrome causing substantial economic losses in chilli production. Severe leaf curling, leaf distortion, vein banding, reduced leaf size and stunted growth are typical symptoms of the viral infection. Chilli is known to be infected by many viruses and association of Geminivirus with murda complex is under question as the complex disease doesn’t associate with whiteflies.

Peace lilies or Spath [Spathiphylllum wallisii Regel.] grown in the garden of AgriHorticultural Society of India at Alipore road, Kolkata, West Bengal are found to be attacked severely by anthracnose disease. The characteristic symptoms appeared on the underside of the leaves near the leaf margins where necrotic lesions were observed with brown wavy margins and ash coloured centres over which light brown to black, superficial, erumpent acervuli, 271.6 – 467.9 x 198.6 – 312.5µ sized with setae measuring 97.6 – 138.8 x 7.6 – 13.9 µ, 1-2 septate, black with pointed tips were observed.

Leaf spot disease (Alternaria alternata) causes severe foliar damage to niger crop. The isolates of A.alternata were collected from different location and tested for their variability in term of morphological, cultural and pathological variation viz., growth rate, colony colour, aerial mycelium colour, growth pattern, sporulation, conidial size, conidial sepation. In case of growth rate Aa1 and Aa2 was observed very fast growing it cover 70- 73 mm growth within 7 days of inoculation on PDA media.

Quince (Cydonia oblonga) is a hardy tree and very less susceptible to diseases. Therefore, used as a dwarfing rootstock for pear, depending on the scion desired and characteristics of the production area. Algal leaf spot is a foliar disease most commonly seen in warm humid climate or in greenhouse conditions. The spots were circular or blotchy in shape, 1-5mm in size and were somewhat raised from the plant surface. The edges of the spots were wavy or feathered.

Five mungbean varieties released by Punjab Agricultural University (PAU911, SML668, ML818, ML613 and SML832) were characterized using morphological and molecular markers. Phenotypically these varieties showed variation for growth habit, leaf and flower characters, pod colour, position and length, plant height, seed coat lusture and seed size during different growth stages of the crop. Plant morphology characters being polygenic in nature are liable to be influenced by the environment.

The spacing of crop may be varied according to climatic condition, soil fertility and cultivars adaptation to particular region. Under the wider spacing, the plant was more vigorous in terms of leaf size, which might be due to less competition for light, nutrients and moisture as compared' to closer spacing (Rai et al., 2003).
