Learning English of of students in Hue

This study aimed at investigating English-major students’ experiences with the use of digital resources for their informal language learning (ILL) at a university in Vietnam. The data collection instruments included questionnaires, which were delivered online to 91 participants, and semi-structured interviews carried out with 12 of these participants.

The findings of this research indicate that students use a wide variety of strategies in their reading of English texts after receiving the intervention. Accordingly, reading strategy instruction should be taken into greater consideration by both EFL teachers and students so as to purposely activate and strengthen these strategic reading tools for students’ life-long learning.

The research “An investigation into the impact of extrinsic motivation on the process of learning English of students at some high schools in Hue” is performed with an eye to providing high school teachers and students with a deep, comprehensible view of the role as well as the positive and negative effects of extrinsic motivation on the process of learning English of high school students.
