  • The study was conducted to determine the above and below ground biomass of Acacia hybrid (Acacia auriculiformis*Acacia mangium) of different diameter classes at La Nga Forestry Company Limited in Dong Nai. A typical standard tree survey method was used to measure fresh biomass, the study cut down 45 trees of different ages and diameters for measuring the fresh biomass with 4 parts including trunk, branches, leaves (above-ground biomass), and roots (below-ground biomass).

  • Effect of potassium (K) application through leaves (LA) or roots (RA) was studied in tobacco plants grown under K deficiency and drought stress conditions. Application of K was effective in improving the shoot growth only under drought conditions, whereas root biomass and length responded under both watering regimes.

  • Chronic diseases and multimorbidity are increasingly common among persons in working age. This study explores the impact of type, number and combinations of chronic diseases with focus on the role of MSKD on (1) adverse work status (i.e. work disability (WD), economic unemployment (UE) or receiving a living allowance (LA)) and on (2) the occurrence of sick leave.

  • A field experiment was conducted at farming system research unit of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kandhamal as a part of ongoing effort to collect the data in connection to dry matter accumulation and partitioning in three cultivars of cow pea during growth and development stages in two consecutive summer and Kharif season of the year 2012-13 and 2013-14. The dry matter partitioning had been worked out at 30, 45 and 60 DAS from the stem, leaves and at only 60 DAS from the pods.

  • Source and sink activity measured after anthesis in six poplar rice cultivars. The experiment was laid in randomized block design with six cultivars MTU-1001, MTU1010, MTU-7029, BPT-2231, BPT-3291 and BPT-5204 replicated four times. After anthesis, top three leaves separately, top three internodes collectively, panicle axis and grain of main culm were sampled at seven day interval and analysed for biochemical parameters that serve remobilization of nutrients. During the initial and later halves of the sampling, there was a shift in higher amylase activity from third to flag leaves.

  • The present study was undertaken to explore the immunological, antioxidant effect as well as microbial protein synthesis potency of oak leaves (Quercus leucotricophora) having 3.35% condensed tannin with its anthelmintic property. Twenty four local male goats of about 6-7 months of age were randomly divided into three homogenous groups (T1, T2 and T3) of eight animals each. Further, each group was subdivided in to 2 sub-groups of 4 animals each and one sub group in each group was treated with synthetic anthelmintic (Ivermectin @ 200µg/kg body wt.) (TA+).

  • The paper deals with observing the behaviour of concrete composites with addition of fibres under ambient and elevated temperature with the aim to determine the mechanical properties of materials. The experimental tests were conducted on three selected concrete composites which differ in a type and content of fibrous reinforcement used. The experimental work carried out was divided into several phases. First of all it was necessary to leave the produced specimens aging and drying in order to minimize the risk of unexpected damage caused by concrete spalling during heating.

  • The story of embroidery includes in its history all the work of the needle since Eve sewed fig leaves together in the Garden of Eden. We are the inheritors of the knowledge and skill of all the daughters of Eve in all that concerns its use since the beginning of time. When this small implement came open-eyed into the world it brought with it possibilities of well-being and comfort for races and ages to come. It has been an instrument of beneficence as long ago as "Dorcas sewed garments and gave them to the poor," and has been a creator of beauty since Sisera gave...

  • Studies have found a few exceptions: changes to estate, inheritance and gift taxes have a small effect on the number of tax returns filed in that state, although some of that decline may be due to households filing from a state where they have a second home. A study of New Jersey’s half-millionaire’s tax suggested that households with incomes over $500,000 were no more likely to leave New Jersey after the higher rate was adopted. The only groups with an identifiable response were rich households with heads age 65 and older and ‘super-rich’ households (in the top 0.1 percent), who.

  • Originally I began this story with a number of instructive chapters on shipping an automobile, and I followed with certain others full of pertinent comment on ocean travel in a day when all the seas were as a great pleasure pond. They were very good chapters, and I hated to part with them, but my publisher had quite positive views on the matter. He said those chapters were about as valuable now as June leaves are in November, so I swept them aside in the same sad way that one disposes of the autumn drift and said I would start with Marseilles, where, after fourteen...

  • The film print shown in theaters is typically a copy of a copy of a copy, three generations removed from the Original Camera Negative. Each generation sacrifices detail and contrast, leaving audiences with a pale imitation of the original. Digital presentation is typically far closer to the Original Camera Negative, enabling much higher picture quality. Stability. Film projectors must “pull down” each frame, then pause while that frame is projected. This process is inherently mechanical and somewhat imprecise.

  • Reducing the number of unwanted pregnancies reduces the risk of maternal deaths. The contraceptive prevalence rate is only about 55 per cent leaving the rest of the women exposed to the risk of pregnancy, in many cases unwanted. Unmet need on contraception (limiting and spacing) is 21 per cent.33 About 16 per cent of girls in the age-group 15-19 have begun childbearing (either have had a live birth or pregnant with the first child).34 The poor status of health of child-bearing adolescents, coupled with physiological immaturity elevates the risk of maternal and perinatal deaths.

  • It seems proper that I should prefix to the following biographical sketch some mention of the reasons which have made me think it desirable that I should leave behind me such a memorial of so uneventful a life as mine. I do not for a moment imagine that any part of what I have to relate can be interesting to the public as a narrative or as being connected with myself. But I have thought that in an age in which education and its improvement are the subject of more, if not of profounder, study than at any former period of English history, it may...
