Which increases capital stock for production, more employment, and income; in turn reducing social and income disparities. The Kenyan government envisaged a sustained economic growth of 10% by investing in priority sectors; to become an industrialized middle-income country by the year 2030; though un-achieved to date.

– This paper uses the dynamic stochastic general equilibrium model and calibrates a version of the Carlstrom and Fuerst’s (1997) agency cost model of business cycles with timevarying uncertainty in the technology shocks that affect capital production. To highlight the differences between the US and European financial sectors, the paper focuses on two key components of the lending channel: the risk premium associated with bank loans and the bankruptcy rates.

This paper models loan rate-setting behavior, taking into account the product pricing and performance of the borrowing firm, and also calculates the bank’s loan-risk sensitive equity values. The lending function creates the need to model bank equity as a capped call option, which captures the credit risk directly related to management of a firm’s operations.

This study investigates how Vietnamese commercial banks respond to countercyclical monetary policy. At first glance, the empirical findings suggest the asymmetrical response of Vietnamese commercial banks to countercyclical monetary policy to be competitive and monetary authority successfully utilizes monetary policy instruments to achieve its objectives. In light of the known characteristics of the Vietnamese economy, the empirical results may be alternatively interpreted as the consequence of graft maximizing behavior of bank management operating in a corrupt and opaque environment.

In regulatory and competitive environments increasingly tight, banks have been forced to constantly improve their internal rating models. Despite the increased supply models and statistical approaches that has been proposed to them, the answer to the question: how much to lend ? remains always at the discretion of the credit risk manager. The aim of this paper is to propose a statistical approach that allows an estimation of the maximum facility bank overdraft (limits) that the credit risk manager may allow coorporate and to identify the determinants of this limits.

This paper investigates whether investors in P2P online lending platforms in China are rational. In China, most P2P platforms run a guarantee mechanism using loan loss provision. I take into account the effect of the guarantee mechanism on loan's cash flow and calculate expected internal rate of return of each loan. The empirical results show evidence against rationality assumption. Firstly, expected return calculated under guarantee mechanism of a loan in China is not only affected by systematic risk, but also by idiosyncratic risk.

Using data collected from a leading P2P platform in China, this paper empirically tests the discrimination of investors on the occupational identity of borrowers in online lending. I find that P2P investors discriminate against borrowers who are salary earners in terms of occupational identity while preferring borrowers who are private entrepreneurs. Moreover, this kind of discrimination can be found in borrowers both with high credit ratings and low credit ratings.
