The research "Long-term implications of capital reduction on firm value" contributes to a deeper understanding of the dynamics surrounding capital reduction, shedding light on both short-term investor behavior and the enduring effects on firm value. The findings provide valuable insights for investors, financial analysts, and policy makers in navigating the complexities associated with corporate structural changes, particularly in the context of capital reduction.

The research deals with current trends of ecommerce in supply chain management through the example of light industry. It is shown that one of the current trends in supply chain management is human labor reduction and almost complete automation of warehouse and transport operations. The practice of domestic online stores in e-commerce is regarded. It has been revealed that for domestic stores there is a lag in using innovative means. This is explained by the small volume of sales.

The phenomenological reduction technique was used to transcribe and analyze the data. Provisional codes were used to classify critical statements into themes for the initial analysis of the interview data. The research revealed the themes of (a) groping in the dark, (b) journeying towards the light, and (c) welcoming the breaking dawn.

This thesis explores the problem of wasteful fashion consumption in light of the current need for individuals to develop a sustainable way of living. The Agenda 21 report from the Rio Earth Summit (1992) determined that sustainable consumption is an issue to be addressed in terms of resource conservation, waste reduction and a reduction of production pollutants. To date, in Australia, there are no policies or strategies in place to reduce wasteful consumption from the consumer’s perspective and it is this research and policy deficit that this thesis research addresses.

Silicon nanocrystals (Si NCs) have unique optical properties, such as, a wide range of absorption and excitation; color tunability; and monochromatic light emission, owing to its quantum confinement effect. Therefore, silicon nanocrystal materials become a vibrant research object in the world due to their potential application. In this report, we study the synthesis of silicon nanocrystal by magnesium directed reduction the silica nanoparticle (SiO2 NPs).

Cellulose–lignin composite carbon fibers have shown to be a potential environmentally benign alternative to the traditional polyacrylonitrile precursor. With the associated cost reduction, cellulose–lignin carbon fibers are an attractive light-weight material for, e.g. wind power and automobile manufacturing.

Bacterial biofilms can initiate chronic infections that become difficult to eradicate. There is an unmet need for effective therapeutic strategies that control and inhibit the growth of these biofilms. Herein, light sensitive mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) with photothermal (PTT) and antimicrobial combined capabilities have been developed.

In addition, the effect of La1-xSrxCoO3 powders on the photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue and CO2 reduction reaction under UV light source was also investigated. The results showed a maximum photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue 30 ppm could be achieved with a degradation degree of 11.32% by La0.6Sr0.4CoO3 synthesized at 850oC for 4h (LSC64-850) in UV light for 150 min.

Up to 70% of nursing home patients with dementia suffer from sleep problems. Light is the main zeitgeber to the circadian system and thus has a fundamental impact on sleep-wake behaviour. Low indoor light levels in nursing homes have been reported, and in combination with age-related reductions in light sensitivity, insufficient light exposure is likely to contribute to sleep problems in this population.

In this study, for the purpose of cost reduction, H. pluvialis is grown in pilot scale angled twin-layer porous substrate photobioreactors with light energy from red/blue LEDs that can produce red light, blue light, or a combination of blue-red light. The total dry biomass of the microalgae reached a maximum of 40.74 g.m-2 under blue-red LEDs.

Patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) spend a high proportion of their waking time in sedentary behaviour (SB) and have an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. Reduction of SB and increase in light intensity physical activity has been suggested as a means of improvement of health in patients with mobility problems.

In this paper, we report the synthesis of rGO-TiO2 nanocomposite electrode and its effect on the performance of DSCs. The nanocomposite rGO-TiO2 photoelectrode was examined by means of current-voltage (I-V) characteristics of the solar cell when illuminated and in the dark. The results indicate that, unlike the Nb2O5 that forms an energy barrier at the surface and SrTiO3 that shifts the conduction band of the TiO2 in the negative direction, rGO doping allows more dye to be adsorbed due its large surface area thus improving the light harvesting efficiency (LHE).

Alternate bearing is a wide spread phenomenon in many fruit tree species and cause severe labour, marketing and economical problem. The term “alternate or biennial” bearing designate the production of a heavy fruit crop “On” year followed by a light fruit crop or trees may not bear a crop at all the next “Off” year. Alternate bearing is a widespread problem for growers of fruit trees, occurring in both evergreen and deciduous trees. It is more pronounced in old productive trees (more than 10 years) in comparison with the young productive trees (about 3-5 years).

Abscission is a highly coordinated developmental process by which plants control vegetative and reproductive organs load. Aiming at get new insights on flower abscission regulation, changes in the global transcriptome, metabolome and physiology were analyzed in ‘Thompson Seedless’ grapevine (Vitis vinifera L.) inflorescences, using gibberellic acid (GAc) spraying and shading as abscission stimuli, applied at bloom.

This paper presents a study which analyzes the energy security in Jordan in light of several regional conflicts for the period (1960-2011). We apply an event study method to assess the direct and indirect effects of six regional conflicts on the energy sector in Jordan based on a proposed energy security framework developed from an infusion of frameworks found in literature. The conflicts include the 6 days war, Lebanese civil war, Iraq-Iran war, First Gulf war, Iraq Invasion, and Egyptian revolution.

Weed is a plant growing where it is not desired so weeds are ubiquitous. The vegetable fields are usually infested by a wide spectrum of broad and grassy weeds. Weeds compete with the crops for water, soil, nutrients, light, space and crop yields are significantly reduced as reported by several studies. The vegetable as well as agricultural crops are infested with a variety of weeds. Out of over 800 weeds documented in India, 80 are considered as serious and nearly 200 as major weeds. They also harbour many insect-pests and microorganisms.

Currently sugarcane crop yields are low and its area under cultivation is declining due to its high cost of cultivation and continuous reduction in announcing less remunerative prices to the farmers by the policy makers. Of late the area under this crop is continuously declining in Telangana state of India. In order to facilitate the farmers to get lucrative prices and to increase area under this crop, sugarcane yields have to be enhanced more than 250 t/ha.

Liposomal amphotericin B were prepared by thin film hydration technique. Particle size was reduced by ultrasonic device and high pressure homogeneous device. The size distribution was determined by dynamic light scattering by the Zetasizer ZS90 equipment. The morphology of amphotericin B liposomes was observed by Transmission electronic microscopy (TEM) with negative staining technique. The result shows that combining high-pressure homogenization and membrane extrusion provided monolayer liposomal amphotericin B with particle size less than 200 nm and homogenously (PDI < 0.3).
