This study investigates flowable dredged soil backfill using air-foam technology and simulates a bridge approach structure under high-speed train loads. This confirms the feasibility of lightweight dredged soil backfill in strengthening weak bridge approach foundations, enhancing railway track infrastructure sustainability and performance.

The purpose of this paper is to present and analyze the characteristics of the corrugated steel culvert to see its superiority and to investigate backfill height cases to investigate the bearing capacity of the culvert. It is known that soil cover depth influences the obtained values of internal forces, the displacement and stress under nomal load conditions.

This study evaluates the basic characteristics of smart structures composed of dielectric elastomer actuators (DEAs) to suppress vibrations. A DEA, which is a lightweight, flexible polymer that can induce high deformations, should realize next-generation actuators. Additionally, DEA can achieve vibration control of structures with complex shapes or curved surfaces.

This work presents results from a numerical investigation on the influence of fluid-structure interaction (FSI) on the dynamic response of thin steel plates subjected to blast loading. The loading was generated by a shock tube test facility designed to expose structures to blast-like loading conditions. The steel plates had an exposed area of 0.3 m × 0.3 m and experienced large deformations during the tests.

Bond behavior between the reinforcement steel bars and surrounding concrete is considered as an important characteristic for reinforced concrete structures, including lightweight aggregate concrete ones. This paper presents an experimental investigation on the bond behavior of 14mm diameter steel bars embedded in lightweight aggregate concrete. The bond slip relationship between rebar and lightweight aggregate concrete shows a conventional behavior, similar to traditional reinforced concrete.

Inappropriate use of gravity and lateral load-bearing system and the use of inappropriate materials may increase in weight of the structure. Thus, we see an increase in gravity and lateral forces and consequently the beam and column dimensions of elements increase.

Textile-reinforced concrete (TRC) is a new composite material made of highstrength textiles embedded within fine grained concrete (FGC). The application of TRC leads to the design of thin and slender structures or for repairing and strengthening of existing structural members. Autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) is an ultra-lightweight concrete, which can be combined with high strength TRC to form some kinds of precast curtain panels in construction.

This paper describes the main features of our tool called “Legal Taxonomy Syllabus”. The system is an ontology based tool designed to annotate and recover multi-lingua legal information and build conceptual dictionaries on European Directives. Vogel, 2004) and ontologies engineering (Klein, 2001), are the following ones: 1) Terms and concepts must be distinguished; for this purpose, we use lightweight ontologies, i.e. simple taxonomic structures of primitive or composite terms together with associated definitions. ...

On the publishing front, individuals wishing to share structured information through the Web must think in terms of a substantial publication process in which their information must be care- ully organized and formatted for reading and browsing by others. While Web logs, or blogs, nable lightweight authoring and have become tremendously popular, they support only unstruc- ured content. As an example of their limitation, one cannot blog a list of recipes and support rich browsing experience based on the contained ingredients....

This building technique was adopted in the predigital era by architects such as Le Corbusier. The roof of the chapel at Ronchamp, for example likened to an airplane wing by the architect-is designed and built as a series of structural concrete ribs, tied together laterally by crossbeams. A paper model of the roof clearly shows the intentions for the internal construction.
