This study investigates the relationship between foreign direct investment (FDI) and financial development for ten member countries of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) during the period from 1970 to 2017.

Literature abound justifying that industrialization is a pathway to economic development and growth. Whereas linkage between financial development and economic growth has long been a subject of intense scrutiny, not much has been done to examine the link between financial development and industrial growth. Using an aggregate production framework and autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) cointegration technique for Nigerian time series data covering the period 1970 to 2009, the paper finds a cointegration relationship between financial sector development and industrial production.

The study investigate the relationship between the financial development, trade openness and economic growth in the Saudi Arabian economy from 1971 to 2012.The paper employed unit root tests, the co-integration test, the Granger Causality Test and the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). The results from Johansen and Juselius co integration test underpins for the existence of long run relationship among the purported variables.Granger causality test exhibits unidirectional causality running from the trade openness to the economic growth in Saudi Arabia.
