This study investigates the relationship between foreign direct investment (FDI) and financial development for ten member countries of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) during the period from 1970 to 2017.

This paper investigates the linkages between natural resources, institutional quality and FDI, and the interaction impact of natural resources and institutional quality on FDI. It argues that countries highly ranked with respect to institutional quality tend to do better in attracting FDI.

In the paper, the authors present some policies which target to push up linkages between small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and foreign direct investment (FDI) enterprises in Vietnam, the status of linkages between them, analysis of experiences of Thailand, Malaysia and Chile and then some recommendations for polices to link FDI enterprises and domestic enterprises of Vietnam.

This paper investigates the relationship between foreign direct investment (FDI) and the productivity of domestic firms in Vietnam. We find evidence of productivity externalities through vertical linkages with joint venture foreign investors in both upstream and downstream sectors. We also identify productivity effects associated with technology transfers from upstream wholly foreign-owned firms. This is the first time that evidence of productivity effects due to forward linkages has been identified in a developing country context.

FDI and sustainable development are considered as two topics of interests of such developing countries as Vietnam. In the current circumstance, they are not independent but closely linked to each other. Despite this fact, there seems to be little researches, especially quantitative ones, which have clarried this bi-directional relationship between FDI and sustainable development as a system of three pillars (economic growth, society and environment).

The desired outcome of this research aims at confirming the linkage between FDI inflows in Laos and the economic development indicators including GNI per capita, financial capital, level of technology, human capital, energy and natural resources, transportation and communication.
