Liquid Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium in varying strengths, is the most commonly utilized medium for proficient rooting in the regenerated plants in doubled haploidy breeding protocols. On the other side, CPV (cocopeat: perlite: vermiculite) medium is currently being used in hardening of tissue culture regenerated plants.

Patients with beta-thalassemia major (BTM) suffer from fatigue, poor physical fitness, muscle weakness, lethargy, and cardiac complications which are related to an energy crisis. Carnitine and acylcarnitine derivatives play important roles in fatty acid oxidation, and deregulation of carnitine and acylcarnitine metabolism may lead to an energy crisis. The present study aimed to investigate carnitine and acylcarnitine metabolites to gain an insight into the pathophysiology of BTM.

In this study, the effects of elicitors on the growth and bioactive ingredients of Panax vietnamensis cell mass are evaluated. The medium composition was fixed with a MS liquid medium supplemented with 6.42 mg/ml NAA, kinetin of 0.11 mg/l, saccharose of 34.3 g/l, a pH of 5.6-5.8, temperature of 24-26o C, conducted at 50 rpm, and culture time of 14 days. The results showed that the best elicitor is jasmonic acid, at a concentration of 100 µmol/l, and for an optimal exposure of the bioactive ingredients to jasmonic acid for 12 days and 14 days after starting the culture.

The highest shoot length (13.1 cm) with 100% frequency was achieved on medium containing 1.0 mg/L GA3. In vitro proliferated shoots were then excised from the shoot clumps and transferred to the rooting medium containing different concentrations of indole butyric acid (IBA; 0.5-2.0 mg/L) and indole acetic acid (IAA; 0.5-2.0 mg/L) alone. Among these, the highest root proliferation was obtained in the medium containing 1.5 mg/L IBA.

The first successful induction of adventitious shoot buds on Santalum album L. leaves is reported. De novo shoots were induced directly on leaves without any callusing stage. A leaf length of 0.5-1.5 cm only showed bud inducing potential. Bud formation occurred on both MS and WPM basal media, although, liquid media were more responsive.
