Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the 3rd most common malignancy with the liver being the most common site of metastases. In this context, we conducted a metaanalysis to synthesize and evaluate the reliability of evidence pertaining to prognostic factors associated with early recurrence (ER) in CRLM following LR.

The prognostic significance of tumor burden score (TBS) in relation to carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) has not been investigated among patients undergoing hepatectomy for intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC). This study aimed to develop and validate a simplified model, a combination of TBS and CEA (CTC grade), for predicting the long-term outcomes of postoperative ICC patients.

CRC with liver metastases is a major contributor to cancer-related mortality. Despite advancements in liver resection techniques, patient survival remains a concern due to high recurrence rates. This study seeks to uncover prognostic biomarkers that predict overall survival in patients undergoing curative hepatic resection for CRC liver metastases.

It is unclear whether hepatectomy, which ranges in invasiveness from partial to major hepatectomy, is safe and feasible for older adult patients. Therefore, we compared its postoperative complications and long-term outcomes between younger and older adult patients.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a primary tumor of the liver. The majority of HCCs are associated most frequently with chronic B or C viral hepatitis, alcohol intake or aflatoxin exposure. Cirrhosis is a strong risk factor associated with HCC.

Primary hepatic neuroendocrine tumours (PHNETs) are a rare form of hepatic neoplasms, and it is difficult to differentiate them from common hepatic malignancies in routine imaging studies.

Routine clinical staging for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) incorporates liver function, general health, and tumor morphology. Further refinement of prognostic assessments and treatment decisions may benefit from the inclusion of tumor biological marker alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) and systemic inflammation indicator C-reactive protein (CRP).

The prognostic values of preoperative aspartate aminotransferase (AST), monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio (MLR), AST·MLR index (AMLRI) and operation injury condition in patients with colorectal cancer liver metastases (CRLM) remains unclear. This retrospective study assessed the relationship between these markers, progression-free survival (PFS), and overall survival (OS) in CRLM patients undergoing resection.

Tumor micronecrosis is a histopathological feature predicting poor prognosis in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) who underwent liver resection. However, the role of tumor micronecrosis in liver transplantation remains unclear.

Laparoscopic liver resection (LLR) is now widely performed in treating primary liver cancer (PLC) and yields equal long-term and superior short-term outcomes to those of open liver resection (OLR). The optimal surgical approach for resectable PLC (rPLC) remains controversial. Herein, we aimed to develop a nomogram to determine the most appropriate resection approach for the individual patient.

Literature review have shown that sarcopenia substantially alters the postoperative outcomes after liver resection for malignant tumors. However, these retrospective studies do not distinguish cirrhotic and non-cirrhotic liver cancer patients, nor combine the assessment of muscle strength in addition to muscle mass.

Inflammation is implicated in tumorigenesis and has been reported as an important prognostic factor in cancers. In this study, we aimed to develop and validate a novel inflammation score (IFS) system based on 12 inflammatory markers and explore its impact on intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) survival after hepatectomy.

Recent studies have shown that the high incidence and low cure rate of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) have not improved signifcantly. Surgery and liver transplantation are the mainstays of prolonging the survival of HCC patients. However, the surgical resection rate of HCC patients is very low, and even after radical surgical resection, the recurrence rate at 5 years postoperatively remains high and the prognosis is very poor, so more treatment options are urgently needed.

Although 80% of patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (CRC) experience liver metastases, only 10–25% undergo resection at the time of diagnosis. Even in initially unresectable conditions, if appropriate treatment is provided, such as surgical conversion through a combination of hepatic arterial infusion (HAI) chemotherapy and systemic chemotherapy (sys-CT), better overall survival can be expected.

High dose unilobar radioembolization (also termed ‘radiation lobectomy’)—the transarterial unilobar infusion of radioactive microspheres as a means of controlling tumour growth while concomitantly inducing future liver remnant hypertrophy—has recently gained interest as induction strategy for surgical resection.

The goal of this study was to evaluate efficacy and safety of 90Y radioembolization for neuroendocrine liver metastases (NELM) in a multicenter registry. Toxicities were reported using Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events v.5. Cox Proportional Hazards were calculated for pancreatic primary, performance status, extrahepatic disease at treatment, unilobar treatment, baseline ascites, and>25% tumor burden.

Accurate prognosis assessment is essential for surgically resected intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) while published prognostic tools are limited by modest performance. We therefore aimed to establish a novel model to predict survival in resected ICC based on readily-available clinical parameters using machine learning technique.
