  • This paper addresses the kinematic and dynamic modelling of a novel serial-parallel robot arm which has been designed and implemented for hot press forging industry in Vietnam. The robot is capable of replacing workers for transferring hot and heavy billets between a heating furnace and a hydraulic press machine of a forging station.

  • This paper addresses the kinematic and dynamic modelling and analysis for a robot arm consisting of two hydraulic cylinders driving two revolute joints of the arm. The two cylinders and relevant links of the robot constitute two local closed kinematic chains added to the main robot mechanism.

  • Numerical simulation have been carried out to observe and predict the mechanisms of stationary mixed flows in a free surface channel combined with a closed conduit. This study has been conducted with a wide range of discharge values, based on a free rectangular channel (4.5x0.98x0.50 m) at the upstream combined with a closed rectangular conduit (4.5 m length), located at the end of the channel. The height of the conduit is fixed at 100 mm and the conduit width is varied to form several other geometrical configurations.

  • The local crystal orientations in these domains were close to that of the original grain. Most of the fission gas bubbles were located on the boundaries. Their shapes were far from spherical and far from lenticular. No interlinked bubble network was found. These observations shed light on previous unexplained observations. They plead for a revision of the classical description of fission gas release mechanisms for the center of high burn-up UO2. Yet, complementary detailed observations are needed to better understand the mechanisms involved.

  • A gate valve is a linear motion valve used to start or stop fluid flow; however, it does not regulate or throttle flow. The name gate is derived from the appearance of the disk in the flow stream. Figure 4 illustrates a gate valve. The disk of a gate valve is completely removed from the flow stream when the valve is fully open. This characteristic offers virtually no resistance to flow when the valve is open. Hence, there is little pressure drop across an open gate valve. When the valve is fully closed, a disk-to-seal ring contact surface exists for 360°, and good sealing is...

  • New Zealand’s university graduation rates were high by OECD standards in 2007. The Times Higher World University Ranking suggests that New Zealand ranks 19th out of 30 OECD countries in terms of where their top universities score – this being the University of Auckland in New Zealand’s case. New Zealand has a high number of science graduates (fourth in the OECD). The number of engineering graduates, however, is close to the bottom of the OECD (22nd in the OECD). At the secondary school level, the picture is mixed.

  • The leukocyte-derived arginine aminopeptidase (L-RAP) is the second ami-nopeptidase localized in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) processing anti-genic peptides presented to major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I molecules. In this study, the genomic organization of the gene encoding human L-RAP was determined and the regulatory mechanism of its expres-sion was elucidated.

  • Once commitment is gained, seal the deal. The potential member just said they were ready to buy the membership, so do not give them the option to now change their mind. Hesitating for even a moment can be the difference between a closed membership sale and a lost membership sale. Don’t act surprised when a member selects a membership option. Simply say, “That’s what I would have picked for you” or “Good choice”, and begin filling out the membership agreement. You want to make this part of the process as quick and as painless for them...

  • Our setup allows us to disentan- gle the implications of these two alternative pricing mechanisms that are standard in the open-economy macro literature. In our model, di®erent assumptions regarding the pricing decisions of ¯rms are virtually inconsequential for the properties of aggregate variables, other than the terms of trade. In particular, the real exchange rate and the international relative price of ¯nal tradable goods behave similarly across the two price setting regimes.

  • The discussion of the properties of relative international prices has been closely tied with a discussion on the nature of the pricing decisions by ¯rms. 5 The observed slow pass-through of exchange rate changes to consumer prices and deviations from the law of one price for traded goods are consistent with prices of imported goods that are sticky in the currency of the consumer (local currency pricing). This pricing mechanism, however, dampens the expenditure-switching e®ect of nominal exchange rate movements.

  • It is difficult to discern exposures from institutions’ reported credit market posi- tions. Indeed, common data sources such as annual reports and regulatory filings record accounting measures on a large and diverse number of credit market instruments. Ac- counting measures are not necessarily comparable across positions. For example, the economic value of two loans with the same book value but different maturities will react quite differently to changes in interest rates. At the same time, many instruments are close substitutes and thus entail essentially the same market risk.

  • Healthcare professionals should discuss all relevant management options recommended in this guideline with men with prostate cancer and their partners or carers, irrespective of whether they are available through local services. Healthcare professionals should ensure that mechanisms are in place to allow men with pros- tate cancer and their primary care providers to gain access to specialist services throughout the course of their disease.
