  • A screen house experiment was conducted during rabi season of 2018-19 to find out the effect of different levels of P and Zn on wheat yield, concentration of different nutrients in grain and straw in low and high P status soil. Five levels of P (0, 30, 60, 120 and 180 mg P kg-1 soil) and four levels of Zn (0, 2.5, 5 and 10 mg Zn kg-1 soil) were applied in completely randomized design with three replications.

  • The study was conducted to know the soil fertility status of different cropping systems in hill zone acid soils of Karnataka. In each cropping systems, samples were collected from two depths (0-15 cm and 15-30 cm) at 20 locations randomly. Soil characterization revealed that soils were slightly acidic to moderately acidic in range with low soluble salts. Surface soils under paddy cropping system recorded higher exchangeable Al3+ and exchangeable acidity compared to coffee and areca cropping system.

  • Two hundred fifty soil samples from Tatrakallu village in scarce rainfall zone of Andhra Pradesh were drawn at 250 m grid interval leaving hills and water bodies and assessed for their fertility parameters. Analytical data was interpreted and statistical parameters like range, mean, standard deviation and coefficient of variation were calculated. Soil fertility maps were prepared for each parameter under GIS environment using Arc GIS v 10.3. Soils were neutral to strongly alkaline with non-saline in nature and soil organic carbon content was low to medium.

  • The present study was undertaken to assess the status of available Zinc in relation to soil physico-chemical properties in nineteen soil samples collected from three different blocks of Birbhum district of West Bengal. In general, textural class ranged from sandy loam to sandy clay loam. Soils were strong to moderately acidic in reaction. Soil organic carbon status ranged from 0.24 to 0.81% and was low in available P status. The DTPA-extractable zinc content in the surface soils under study, varied from 0.37 to 1.28 mg kg-1 with an average value 0.856 mg kg-1 .

  • An investigation was carried out to estimate the level of selected macro and micronutrients in the soil and fodder of ten tehsils of Udaipur district of Rajasthan. The soil analysis indicated that moderate amount of major nutrients like Phosphorous, Potassium, Magnesium and calcium were present in these soils. This study indicated that the soils of this region were rich in micronutrients viz., Fe and Pb whereas, Mn, Cu and S contents were intermediate in quantity. On the other hand Zn was found to be deficient in these soils. The average Ca content in straws (0.

  • Preparation of compost enriched with rock phosphate may be considered as a suitable option for utilizing the reserves of low-grade rock phosphate for enhancing the phosphorus use efficiency of crops. This research was carried out to study the effect of combined inoculation of mycorrhiza and selected rhizobacteria on soil nutrients and P uptake by rice. The experiment was conducted in Randomized Block Design with 10 treatments having three replications.

  • Greenhouse experiment was conducted to assess the soil biochemical change patterns in soils of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus (AMF)-inoculated and uninoculated maize plants fertilized with varying levels of P and Zn. Soil samples were collected for mycorrhizal spores, microbial communities, available micronutrients and phosphorus (P) contents besides organic and biomass carbon (BMC), soil enzymes and glomalin. Major portion of Fe and Zn fractionations was found to occur in the residual form.
