The research employed a qualitative, multi-case study approach. The findings revealed a significant gap between the English education policies of the Vietnamese government and classroom practice.

The present study was conducted in Hisar city and two villages of Hisar district. Two Government Senior Secondary Schools (one for boys and one for girls) from rural area and two Government Senior Secondary Schools (one for boys and one for girls) from Hisar city were selected at random. The study was conducted with 16-18 years old adolescents. These adolescents were selected from randomly selected four Government Senior Secondary Schools. Total sample constituted of 240 adolescents, 120 from rural area and 120 from urban area. These 240 adolescents included 120 boys and 120 girls.

This study investigates the Vietnam government and Hanoi local governing body’s efforts to improve lower secondary education after the law on Residence in 2006. The law on Residence adopted by the National Assembly of Vietnam in 2006 ensures the freedom of temporary residence and relaxes the rule for shifting to permanent registration. The enforcement of the law in 2007 made Hanoi population increase from 3,751,000 (2000) to 5,276,000 (2015) and caused a bloated lower secondary education.

Significantly lower salivary OC concentrations in both healthy and diseased smokers than their non-smoker counterparts were reported by Özçaka et al. (2011b). The detrimental effects of smoking may explain these decreases in salivary levels of OC in smokers also indicating a deficiency in tissue response to the injuries in smoker subjects. The differences in patient numbers and/or the possible differences in the disease activity states may explain the differences in findings of the present study and the previous ones.
