To evaluate factors predicting the potential occurrence of procedurerelated complications in patients undergoing computed tomography-guided lung biopsy. Subject and method: retrospective description. 83 patients had undergone computed tomography-guided lung biopsy in The Thoracic and Thyroid Surgery Department, Binh Dan Hospital from 2021 to 2022.

Accurate lung cancer classification is crucial to guide therapeutic decisions. However, histological subtyping by pathologists requires tumor tissue—a necessity that is often intrinsically associated with procedural difficulties. The analysis of circulating tumor DNA present in minimal-invasive blood samples, referred to as liquid biopsies, could therefore emerge as an attractive alternative.

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis is a disease with a poor prognosis and has been associated with increased lung cancer incidence. We report the case of a Caucasian 75-year-old woman, a former smoker, hospitalized for breathlessness with a chest computed tomography scan showing an interstitial lung disease.

We report a case of the neonatal interstitial lung disease pulmonary interstitial glycogenosis in a girl with Jacobsen syndrome. While Jacobsen syndrome is caused by a deletion on the long arm of chromosome 11 and is genetically conformed, pulmonary interstitial glycogenosis is of unknown etiology and is diagnosed by lung biopsy. Pulmonary interstitial glycogenosis has not previously been described in association with Jacobsen syndrome.

Precision medicine highlights the importance of incorporating molecular genetic testing into standard clinical care. Next-generation sequencing can detect cancer-specific gene mutations, and molecular-targeted drugs can be designed to be effective for one or more specific gene mutations.

While individuals with normal gastrointestinal (GI) mucosa on endoscopy have a lower risk of colorectal cancer, risks of other cancers remain unexplored. Individuals with a histologically normal mucosa at biopsy and where follow-up revealed no cancer in the first 6 months, may still be at increased risk of cancer, although excess risks are small.

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of liquid biopsy in detecting epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations at diagnosis, disease progression, and intermediate stages. This prospective, multicenter, observational study included 30 patients with non-small cell lung cancer treated with afatinib, harboring a major EGFR mutation confirmed by tumor tissue biopsy

Early diagnosis of lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), one of the most common types of lung cancer, is very important to improve the prognosis of patients. The current methods can’t meet the requirements of early diagnosis. There is a pressing need to identify novel diagnostic biomarkers.

Pulmonary pleomorphic carcinoma is a very rare histological type of primary lung cancer, and usually provides aggressive clinical courses. A 65-year-old Japanese woman was diagnosed by transbronchial biopsy of the primary tumor as c-stage IV (cT4N3M1b) of adenocarcinoma harboring L858R point mutation in the exon 21 of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR).

Patients with intestinal T-cell lymphomas (ITLs) usually present with perforation of the small intestine and colon at diagnosis. At relapse or in the advanced stage, ITLs involve in other extranodal sites, but biopsy-proven lung involvement has been rarely reported.

Mycobacterium tuberculosis is primarily known to affect the lungs with cavitary lesions and enlarged lymph nodes as the first telltale sign. However, if the bacteria spread to extrapulmonary areas such as the bones, and lack lymphadenopathy, then the differential diagnosis may become misleading.

This study focused on evaluating the diagnostic performance of the lung point (LP)- a lung ultrasound (LUS) sign in detecting and semi-quantifying pneumothorax (PTX), using computed tomography (CT) as the reference standard. The study included 150 patients who underwent CT-guided transthoracic biopsy (TTB) for lung lesions.

Transbronchial lung cryobiopsy is a safe technique increasingly used in the study of lung diseases. Until now, only a case of pneumatocele was described but this interesting condition is probably underestimated because CT scan is routinely not performed after transbronchial lung cryobiopsies.

Detection of small peripheral lung nodules is constantly increasing with the development of low dose computed tomography lung cancer screening programs. A tissue diagnosis is often required to confirm malignity, with endobronchial biopsies being associated with a lower pneumothorax rate than percutaneous approaches.

Clinical practice guidelines and re-imbursement schedules vary in the recommended timing of FDGPET/CT in the diagnostic evaluation of suspected or conformed lung cancer. The aim was to estimate the probability of requiring more than one invasive test to complete diagnosis and staging in non-small cell lung cancer if FDG-PET/CT was used prior to initial biopsy (FDG-PET/CT First) compared to current Australian funding criteria (CT First).
