Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is known for its high potential for regional and distant metastasis. However, breast metastasis is rarely reported. A 39-year-old Caucasian male presented with bilateral neck lymph node enlargement. Radiological examination with contrast-enhanced computed tomography scan and breast imaging revealed an enhancing mass lesion in the right breast.

Mycobacterium tuberculosis is primarily known to affect the lungs with cavitary lesions and enlarged lymph nodes as the first telltale sign. However, if the bacteria spread to extrapulmonary areas such as the bones, and lack lymphadenopathy, then the differential diagnosis may become misleading.

Evidence of mediastinal Lymph Node Enlargement (LNE) on CT scan is a common finding in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). We sought to investigate whether the involvement of mediastinal lymph nodes is associated with accelerated disease progression, and explored the changes occurring in mediastinal lymph nodes during the radiological follow up of these patients.

Lymphadenopathy referred as lymph node enlargement is the most common problem in dogs, may be due to inflammatory or non-inflammatory conditions including neoplasm. In case of cattle and buffalo, Theileriosis showed lymph node enlargement as the most common complaint. It is not a specific disease entity but an important clinical finding; the cause should be ascertained to attempt treatment and prognosis. Enlargement of lymph nodes often occurs following the proliferation of resident normal cells or infiltration of outside normal or abnormal cells.

The present paper deals with clinical signs, diagnosis and treatment of bovine theileriosis in the crossbred Sahiwal calf, aged about 1 month. In this case report, the clinical signs observed were; high fever (106.7 ˚F), anorexia, dullness, staggering gait, absence of suckling reflex, slight pale mucus membrane, presence of ectoparasites (ticks), and enlarged pre-scapular lymph nodes. The peripheral blood smear and lymph node smear confirmed the presence of piroplasmic organisms and Koch`s blue bodies respectively.

Chemoradiotherapy (CRT) is an effective modality for stage I esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). However, salvage treatments are often required even if complete response (CR) has been achieved. To this end, it is important to accurately diagnose lymph node or other organ metastatic recurrences.

A rare case of caprine theileriosis is described and discussed in this report. A three years old female non-descript, goat was brought to the Small Ruminant Care Unit, Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal with the history of anorexia, and prostation. Detailed examination revealed rough coat, emaciation, prostration, inability to get up, pyrexia (41°C), tachycardia, slightly icteric mucus membranes, enlarged lymph nodes, decreased haemoglobin (7.2g/ dl), decreased haematocrit (20.29 %), increased leukocyte count (19.84 x103cu.

A two and a half year old male Labrador dog was brought with history of in appetence, pyrexia, weakness, vomiting, blood in urine and lateral recumbencysince a week. Clinical examination revealed icteric visible mucousmembrane, dehydration, high fever (105 o F), increased respiratory rate and enlarged superficial lymph nodes with presence of ticks on body surface. Urinalysis revealed haemoglobinuria. Haematological findings revealed severe anemia (Hb- 2.2 g/dl) and thrombocytopenia (88 ×105 /µl). Serum biochemistry showed elevated BUN (102 mg/dl), creatinine (3.

Theileria diseases are known to cause heavy losses to the livestock industry. Lack of appropriate control strategies for this disease lead to increase in mortality, reduced milk production, lowered animal drought power, ultimately produces constraint to the dairy industry. Theileriosis is a tick-borne disease, caused by Theileria annulata. The vector ticks are of the genus Hyalomma. This case report revealed the successful therapeutic management of theileriosis in Tharparkar calves. Clinical examination of affected calves revealed high fever (104.

Babesiosis is economically the most important arthropod-borne disease of cattle worldwide caused by protozoan parasite of the genus Babesia. Among several species of Babesia, Babesia bigemina and Babesia bovis are most common in tropical and subtropical region. There are age-related immunity to primary infection of cattle with Babesia bovis and Babesia bigemina. Generally young calves exhibit a strong innate immunity in comparison to adult cattle.

One hundred cattle-calves irrespective of their age, sex and breed brought to Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex, College of Veterinary and Animal Science, Bikaner were screened for Theileria annulata infection. Blood and lymph node aspirate smears were prepared from the ear vein and enlarged superficial lymph nodes of suspected cattle-calves and stained with Giemsa’s stain for detection of piroplams and schizonts under oil immersion, respectively.

Anaplasma is one of the most rickettsiale diseases in ruminants. Five species including Anaplasma marginale, Anaplasma centrale, Anaplasma bovis, Anaplasma phagocytophilium and Anaplasma ovis are recognized in ruminant animals. Anaplasma causes major economic losses to the livestock owner. Anaplasma is mainly transmitted by mechanical way such as by biting flies, lice and biological by different tick species and fomites in livestock.

The Institutional Review Board approved this retrospective study, with a waiver of informed consent from the patients. TB outbreaks occurred in 15 senior high schools and chest radiographs from 58 students with identical strains of TB were analyzed by restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis by two independent observers. Lesions of nodule(s), consolidation, or cavitation in the upper lung zones were classified as typical TB.

(Ghon focus) in the lung with spread to the regional lymph node(s). In the majority of cases, the resultant cell-mediated immunity contains the disease process at this stage. Risk of disease progression is increased in the very young (3 years old) and in immune compromised children. Progression of disease occurs by 1) extension of the primary focus with or without cavitation; 2) the effects of pathological processes caused by the enlarging lymph nodes or by 3) lymphatic and/ or haematogenous spread.

There has been a case report of exaggerated pigmented granulomatous reaction to the artificial joint implant in a 72-year-old man who had undergone bilateral total hip arthroplasty, in whom, aspirate from the inguinal region was misinterpreted as metastatic melanoma from an unknown primary. Microscopically, the smears of this patient showed both intracellular and extracellular black pigment with obscured cytomorphology; although, appreciable cells were reported to be pleomorphic with prominent nucleoli. The patient had no evidence of primary cutaneous melanoma.

This chapter is intended to serve as a guide to the evaluation of patients who present with enlargement of the lymph nodes (lymphadenopathy) or the spleen (splenomegaly). Lymphadenopathy is a rather common clinical finding in primary care settings, whereas palpable splenomegaly is less so. Lymphadenopathy Lymphadenopathy may be an incidental finding in patients being examined for various reasons, or it may be a presenting sign or symptom of the patient's illness.

Clinical Manifestations Infection is acquired as the result of a break in the epithelium during sexual contact with an infected individual. After an incubation period of 4–7 days, the initial lesion—a papule with surrounding erythema—appears. In 2 or 3 days, the papule evolves into a pustule, which spontaneously ruptures and forms a sharply circumscribed ulcer that is generally not indurated (Fig. 139-2). The ulcers are painful and bleed easily; little or no inflammation of the surrounding skin is evident.
