This compound displayed the affection of ATPase activity of the recombinant ClpC1 protein, a regulatory protein of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. In addition, compound 1 exhibited anti-inflammatory activity through the inhibition of TNF-α on LPS-stimulated macrophage RAW264.7. This is the first time compound 1 (indole-3-carboxylic acid) has been isolated from S. wuyuanensis. Indole-3-carboxylic acid was also reported for the first time its inhibition of M. tuberculosis ClpC1 protein.

Pancreatic cancer is a highly lethal disease with no effective treatments. Lactobacillus casei (L. casei) and Lactobacillus reuteri (L. reuteri) exhibited therapeutic effects on several cancers, but their roles in pancreatic cancer are unknown. This study aims to explore how L. casei & L. reuteri influence pancreatic cancer and the underlying mechanisms.

Tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) are the most abundant types of immune cells in the tumor microenvironment (TME) of breast cancer (BC). TAMs usually exhibit an M2 phenotype and promote tumor progression by facilitating immunosuppression. This study aimed to investigate the effect of CAA-derived IL-6 on macrophage polarization in promoting BC progression.

This study aimed to investigate the anti-inflammatory effects of the methanol extracts of A. maximum (AMM) and A. muricarpum Elmer (AMC) in murine macrophage RAW 264.7 cell line. The total extracts showed that the extracts exhibited low cytotoxicity and potent anti-inflammatory activities by suppressing excessive nitric oxide (NO). The IC50 values of AMC and AMM were found to be 12.67 ± 1.7 µg/mL and 42.7 ± 2.5 µg/mL, respectively.

In the past years, our laboratory successfully generated transgenic rainbow trout bearing cecropin P1 transgene. These fish exhibited resistant characteristic to infection by Aeromonas salmonicida, Infectious Hematopoietic Necrosis Virus (IHNV) and Ceratomyxa shasta (a parasitic pathogen). Previously, treating rainbow trout macrophage cells (RTS-11) with cecropin B, pleurocidin and CF17, respectively, resulted in elevated expression of two pro-inflammatory genes, e.g. cyclooxygenase-2 (cox-2) and interleukin-1β (il-1β).

Immune checkpoint blockades (ICBs) are characterized by a durable clinical response and better tolerability in patients with a variety of advanced solid tumors. However, we not infrequently encounter patients with hyperprogressive disease (HPD) exhibiting paradoxically accelerated tumor growth with poor clinical outcomes.

Tumour stromal macrophages differentiate to tumour-associated macrophages (TAMs) with characteristics of immunosuppressive M2-type macrophages, having a central role in promoting tumour vascularisation, cancer cell dissemination and in suppressing anti-cancer immune responses. Bisphosphonates (BPs) are a group of drugs commonly used as anti-resorptive agents.

The in vitro antimicrobial potency of the bacteriocin AS-48 is well documented, but its clinical application requires investigation, as its toxicity could be different in in vitro (haemolytic and antibacterial activity in blood and cytotoxicity towards normal human cell lines) and in vivo (e.g. mice and zebrafish embryos) models. Overall, the results obtained are promising.

Candida albicans proteins located on the cell wall and in the cytoplasm have gained great attention because they are not only involved in cellular metabolism and the maintenance of integrity but also interact with host immune systems. Previous research has reported that enolase from C. albicans exhibits high immunogenicity and effectively protects mice against disseminated candidiasis. In this study, alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) of C.
