This study sheds light on self-selected loan groups formed under a microcredit group-lending program and estimates how and the extent to which post-determined group-related factors reflecting the group atmosphere and rivalry among the group members affect the economic achievements of the loan users. Based on data from Maharashtra State, India, this study finds that social homogeneity and monitoring among members work as building blocks to increase the household income of a loan user, while fairness and frequent meetings with other members work as stumbling blocks.

The study was conducted in thirty renowned oil industries located in the selected cities of Marathawada region in Maharashtra state (Parbhani, Hingoli, Aurangabad, Jalna and Nanded) to know the inside and outside intensity level of noise. These oil industries were involved in expelling oil from cotton seeds for the last 10-12 years. All the selected oil industries were established by small and medium entrepreneurs. Measurement of noise level was made with a handy sound level meter (model no. 2013, serial no. F 04000) manufactured in India by CYGENT system.

The present study was conducted in Kolhapur district of Maharashtra state during 1980-81 to 2011-12. The study found that area under wheat, bajra, gram, redgram had declined and area under rice, Kharif jowar, Rabi jowar, greengram, blackgram, fruits and vegetables, soybean sugarcane and groundnut was increased. Similarly area under total cereal and pulse was also declined.

Bacterial blight of Pomegranate caused by Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. punicae has become a major constraint in important pomegranate producing states of Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh of India. Agriculture is an intrinsically risk industry. Sugarcane crop is grown as a important cash crop in all over the world and facing several risks in production and marketing. Present study focuses on the measurement of farm risk i.e. area, production, productivity and price for sugarcane production in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. Coefficients of variation (CV) are used to analyze the production risk for both states.

Dairy farming in India plays a vital role in livelihood security of the dairy farmers. The factors which are major hurdles in increasing farmers income are low productivity of indigenous breeds, inadequate knowledge about balanced feeding and low conception rate through artificial insemination. The present study was conducted in Solapur district of Maharashtra state with the objective of correlational analysis of socio-demographic profile of dairy farmers with knowledge and adoption of animal husbandry practices. Data were randomly collected from a total of 200 dairy farmers from 10 villages.

Total 108 Indian clavarioid fungi belonging to 17 genera were compiled from literature. These fungi are distributed in 13 states of India. Genus Ramaria represent the largest number of species (39) followed by Clavaria (13), Clavulinopsis (12), Clavulina (11) and Typhula (10). Genera like Aphelaria, Artomyces, Deflexula, Gloeocantharellus, Multiclavula and Scytinopogon are least diverse and represented by only one species.

The present study was conducted in Yavatmal district of Vidarbha region of Maharashtra state in the year 2017 with 100 turmeric growers as respondents. Collar rot of chilli caused by Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc. is currently occurring in chilli growing areas of Marathwada region in India. The genetic diversity among eight chilli S. rolfsii isolates collected from eight districts covering various geographic areas of Marathwada region of Maharashtra state were analysed using random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) using five random primers. Size of DNA fragments amplified by the five primers ranged from 0.1 Kb to 10 Kb indicating polymorphism among S. rolfsii isolates. RAPD banding profiles with five different random primers viz.

India is the second largest producer of groundnuts in the world. The major growing state for groundnut is Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, and Uttar Pradesh. The present study was based on secondary data collected from a period of 43 years i.e. from 1970-71 to 2013-14 by examined changes in cropping pattern, the trend in crop diversification, and advantageous crops in Amravati district of Maharashtra. Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) is one of the most popular and favorite vegetable crops in different parts of the world. Most species are climbing perennial herbs. Cucumber contains 0.4 per cent protein, 2.5 per cent carbohydrates, 1.5 mg iron, and 2 mg of vitamin C in 100 mg of fresh weight. Powdery mildew caused by Erysiphe cichoracearum (D.C.) is an important disease of cucurbits, particularly, cucumber is highly susceptible to this disease and suffers heavy losses in all localities of Maharashtra State, wherever it is grown.
