The main objective of this work is to assess the impact of prolonged wastewater irrigation on soil indicators in Bahr Elbaqar area. Moreover, the specific objectives are to distinguish a minimum dataset (MDS) of soil quality attributes and to compare the measurements of soil quality index using the total data set (TDS) and minimum data set (MDS) methods to improve the soil practices depending on soil quality monitoring.

The world production of vegetables, India is the second largest producer next to china. In India, there is no mechanization available for onion transplanting. The transplanting of onion seedlings mainly depends on farm workers. So, manually operated two row paper pot onion transplanter was developed. In agricultural mechanization, the major role of ergonomics is to increase the efficiency of the operation. The study was conducted to evaluate the manually operated two row paper pot onion transplanter and compared with conventional method of transplanting.

Major part of Indian economy is contributed by agriculture and its allied sector. Around 56 per cent of population directly or indirectly depends upon agriculture. The GDP contribution of the agriculture and allied sector is 17.2 per cent, but this sector is facing many challenges to flourish. Out of these challenges lesser crop productivity and inefficient use of fertilizers are the main challenges faced by Indian farmers. Till now, fertilizer recommendations for different crops are made on the basis of agronomical practices and not on the soil test basis.

In India more than 50% of the total cultivated area is still being managed by using draught animals. With the modernization of agriculture, the use of tractors has increased but draught animals continue to be used on Indian farms. This mainly due to small land holdings and hill agriculture (G. Singh), India possessed the finest breeds of draught animals. Bullocks, buffaloes and camels are the major draught animals for field operations. The present study was conducted in Ananthapur district of Andhra Pradesh to study the profile characteristics and Information Source Utilization Pattern of rain fed groundnut farmers. Ananathapur farmers are largely dependent on drought-prone, rain-fed agriculture; and mostly a single crop of groundnut is sown in about 8 lakh ha under such harsh and agro climatic conditions. Of its geographical area of 19, 13,000 ha, (largest in AP) 10, 00,000 ha are rain-fed. The present state of A.P has totally about 40 lakh ha under rain fed cultivation and 25% of it is in Ananathapur district.
