Design of new highly productive livestock breeds, well-adapted to local climatic conditions is one of the aims of modern agriculture and breeding. The genetics underlying economically important traits in cattle are widely studied, whereas our knowledge of the genetic mechanisms of adaptation to local environments is still scarce.

Negative energy balance (NEB) is an imbalance between energy intake and energy requirements for lactation and body maintenance affecting high-yielding dairy cows and is of considerable economic importance due to its negative impact on fertility and health in dairy herds. It is anticipated that the cow hypothalamus experiences extensive biochemical changes during the early post partum period in an effort to re-establish metabolic homeostasis. However, there is variation in the tolerance to NEB between individual cows.

The ureagenesis plays a central role in the homeostatic control of nitrogen metabolism. This process occurs in the liver, the key metabolic organ in the maintenance of energy homeostasis in the body. To date, the understanding of the influencing factors and regulators of ureagenesis in ruminants is still poor.

Water is considered to be one of the essential resources for the survival of living beings. The vital resource is exposed to toxic pollutant due to the untreated industrial discharge from tannery, textile and other industries. Effluents discharged from the tannery and textile industries contains an ample of heavy metals and other toxic azo dyes which affects the living beings including aquatic and terrestrial flora and fauna. The removal of this toxic compounds from the water bodies has become a challenge to the human society.

Crocodylians being poikilotherms, are of interest because of their massive sizes, and how they respond to situations where behavioural thermal selection varies. The purpose of this study was to examine Tb trends in Crocodylus palustris, with respect to post-feeding, the impact of enclosure maintenance, how visitor numbers affected Tb, and variability within and between animals. The three subject animals comprised a group of 31 crocodiles, held in a natural pond.

The study was conducted in eighteen buffaloes categorised into three groups of six animals each. The drugs were used in following combinations: Glycopyrrolate–Xylazine– Meloxicam–Ketamine, Glycopyrrolate-Xylazine-Tolfenamic acid-Ketamine and Glycopyrrolate–Xylazine–Flunixin-meglumine–Ketamine. Glycopyrrolate was given @ 0.01 mg/kg body weight i/m, Xylazine @ 0.04 mg/kg body weight i/m, Meloxicam at 0.5 mg/kg body weight i/m, Tolfenamic acid 4 mg/kg body weight i/m, Flunixin-meglumine at 2.2 mg/kg body weight i/v and Xylazine and Ketamine @ 0.

The aim of present study was to find out the effect of „challenge feeding‟ on performance and economics of milk yield of crossbred cows. Eighteen advance pregnant crossbred cows were selected 60 days before expected date of calving and were divided into 3 groups i.e. control (T1), treatment (T2) and (T3) on the basis of milk yield, parity and body weight for this study. During the pre-partum period, animals of T1 control group were fed 1 kg concentrate for maintenance per day from 60th day to prior to calving till the day of parturition.
