  • This study analyzed the trend in maize production in Vietnam and estimated a production model while determining factors affecting change in output. Response coefficients were estimated from time-series data covering 1986 to 2011 using the double-logarithm model. Estimated parameters results in model indicated that the maize production also had positive response to the price of maize, the fertilizer per hectare, the maize area, irrigation, the trend variable, and the agricultural extension policy.

  • Cassava (Manihot esculenta, crantz) is an important food crop for many tropical zones in the world such as Africa, Asia and Latin America. In Vietnam it is an annual plant with the purpose of obtaining its tuber as food and ranked as the third, food crop after the rice and maize.   • Effect of the nutrient formulations for pre-sowing seed treatment on germination and growth of maize seedlings was studied. The formulations comprised separate copper nanoparticles (NanoCu), IET1- based on a Novalon Seed Treatment product, IET2 - based on humate metal-organic-coordination complexes (MOC), Nualgi – based on nano silica, wherein microelements were adsorbed on the surface of the silica nanoparticles, and formulations with microelements in a form of Metal-EDTA complexes, based on commercial fertilizer products of Novalon, Wuxal and Comex companies.

  • This study was conducted at the Maize Research Institute of Vietnam using 24 maize hybrids, identified as STM1 to STM24, at five different salt concentrations, which were 0, 50, 100, 150, and 200 mM NaCl. After seven days of germination at room temperature, seedlings were transplanted to nutrient-rich solutions salinized with salt. 17 day-old seedlings were then harvested to calculate their growth parameters of the day to seedlings fully wilt and degradation, root and shoot length, seedling dry matter production, and content.

  • The experimental research of the authors from 2003-2006 on the following agricultural products: Watermelon, sugarcane, cassava, groundnuts, maize and rice. The results show that post-harvest losses of agricultural products is very high: Watermelon 6.6 - 12.6%, sugarcane 1:46 to 3:26%, Wu 8.88 - 1.18%, rice 8:36 to 12:25%, 17:02% 13:33 Lac, San slices of 13:27 to 17:49% cassava flour and 5:17 to 8:22%.
