India is an agricultural country where about 87% of farmers fall under small and marginal farmers. The basic requirements for small scale cropping machines are they should be suitable for small farms, simple in design and technology and versatile for use in different farm operations. A pull type planter was developed with inclined plate metering mechanisms for maize, red gram and castor crops to reduce seed damage.

Maize (Zea mays L.) is the most important cereal Indian food crops and known as queen of cereal due to unparallel productivity among cereal crops in India, Maize occupies third position both in area and production after Rice and Wheat. The Bhilwara region occupies a place of pride in production of Maize, contributing about 48.0 percent of the total production and more than 38.47 percent area of the Rajasthan state. Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Chittorgarh district is engaged in transfer of technology in all major crops in its operational areas.

This paper examines the trends in rice and maize productivity growth in Andhra Pradesh. A nonparametric data envelopment analysis (DEA) programming method is used to compute Malmquist productivity indices. For study, time-series data on cost of cultivation of selected crops were collected from the reports of Commission on Agricultural Costs and Prices for the period 1996-97 to 2014-15. The results revealed that the decomposition of the TFPch for the corresponding years into EFFch and TECHch revealed that 48.8 per cent increase in TFPch was due to improvement in the technology used.

An investigation was carried out at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agriculture Science and Technology of Jammu during 2013-14 and 2014-15, to assess the influence of 4 tillage systems and 3 weed-control practices on weed dynamics and productivity in maize-wheat cropping sequence. In maize, grain yield of maize was statistically at par in continuous conventional tillage (CT-CT) in both maize and wheat and conventional tillage in maize and zero tillage in wheat (CT-ZT).

Women constitute a major and vital work force in agriculture. Nearly 84% of all economically active women in India are engaged in agriculture and allied activities. But the irony is that, most of the agricultural equipment and tools are designed keeping in mind men‟s physiological parameters which are substantially different from women‟s physiological parameters. Even the tools and equipment should not only be tailor made for women while they should be designed according to local conditions and demand.

Extent of adoption level of improved maize production technology in Saharsa district of Bihar, India
Adoption is decision to make full use of new ideas as the best course of action available. The term adoption, in this study is used to denote use of improved maize cultivation practices by farmers. Maize production has shown a tremendous increase in the country. The growth rate of production of maize since last five years is higher in India than that of maize in USA and China. The productivity of maize with more than 4 t/ha in Rabi season is catching up with global average productivity of maize. India is now major maize producer after USA, China, Brazil and Argentina.

Maize is the most important world‟s leading cereals crop which can be grown in diverse seasons, ecological and uses and known as queen of cereal due to unparallel productivity among cereal crops. Front line demonstrations (FLDs) on maize were laid down at 180 farmers‟ fields to demonstrate production potential and economic benefits of improved production technologies comprising high yielding varieties namely PEHM-2, PM-3, PM-5, PSM 2 and PM 4 in Pali district of arid zone of Rajasthan state during Kharif seasons from 2011 to 2017 in rainfed farming situation.

The present study was undertaken to assess and compare the knowledge of improved maize production and post harvest technologies among farmers and farm women and constraints faced by the farm families in adoption of maize production technologies of maize. The study was conducted in two purposively selected districts viz. Udaipur and Chittorgarh of Agro-climatic zone IV A of Rajasthan. Two panchayat samities from each district were selected purposively and three villages from each panchayat samiti were selected on random basis.

Maize is an important staple food of the tribal district of Pratapgarh. Farmers can obtain higher yield and returns in rabi maize than kharif maize. But lack of suitable high yielding variety as well as poor knowledge about rabi maize production practices are ascribed as main reasons for low productivity of maize in the district. Front line demonstration is an effective and appropriate tool to demonstrate recommended technologies among the farmers.

Effect of the nutrient formulations for pre-sowing seed treatment on germination and growth of maize seedlings was studied. The formulations comprised separate copper nanoparticles (NanoCu), IET1- based on a Novalon Seed Treatment product, IET2 - based on humate metal-organic-coordination complexes (MOC), Nualgi – based on nano silica, wherein microelements were adsorbed on the surface of the silica nanoparticles, and formulations with microelements in a form of Metal-EDTA complexes, based on commercial fertilizer products of Novalon, Wuxal and Comex companies.

Oats rank around sixth in world cereal production statistics, following wheat, maize, rice, barley and sorghum. In many parts of the world, oats are grown for use as grain as well as for forage and fodder, straw for bedding, hay, haylage, silage and chaff. Livestock grain feed is still the primary use of oat crops, accounting for an average of around 74 percent of the world’s total usage. In India, breeding of oats begun in nineteen-eighties and is grown as the most important cereal fodder crop in North Western, Central India, extending to the eastern regions.

The crop productivity has been reached to the stagnation and there is no increase in the yield even at higher doses of fertilizers. The need of pacing up with the increase food demand with crop production is urgent for countries like India. To achieve this more focus is needed over the transition zone production system. In Bangalore north and south transact are at dynamic state in terms of production system and can be categorised as rural, urban and transition zone.

Traditional agricultural practices have resulted in decreased soil fertility, shortage of water resources and deterioration of agricultural ecological environment, which are seriously affecting production of maize. A field experiment was conducted in medium black soil during kharif and rabi season of 2016-17 and 2017-18 at farmer field near Agricultural Research Station, Sirguppa. The results revealed that, among improved production technologies of maize, higher grain yield were noticed with improved method-4 (T5: 7681 kg ha-1 ) over farmer method of cultivation (T1:5840 kg ha-1 ).
