Cancer-related cognitive impairment (CRCI) is one of the most concerning conditions experienced by patients living with cancer and has a major impact on their quality of life. Available cognitive assessment tools are too time consuming for day-to-day clinical setting assessments.

The side and adverse effects of anesthesia and its neurotoxicity to children have become major concerns of anesthesiologists in recent years. Currently, no clinical trials have provided clear evidence indicating the suitable minimum age for a patient’s first anesthetic application, importance of anesthesia duration, number of anesthetic applications or interval between two consecutive anesthesia applications.

Alopecia grade 2 accounted for the majority of patients in our study (82.1%). This was a symptom that should be concerned, however, our study revealed that the alopecia’s effects were not so serious among patients in the study. Most of the patients did not worry about chemotherapy - induced alopecia (89.3%), and 87.5% of participants experienced low distress, while there was still a proportion of 12.5% with higher distress.

Highly porous Ti matrix composites can be a solution for some of the major clinical concerns for the load bearing implants such as low tribocorrosion resistance, stress shielding, and lack of biological anchorage. In order to respond to these needs, highly porous Ti-TiB-TiNx in-situ composites were synthesized by pressureless sintering using BN as reactant and urea as space holder. Corrosion behaviour was investigated at body temperature, in phosphate buffer saline solution (PBS), by measuring open circuit potential (OCP) and cyclic polarization.

The number of hip fractures and resulting post-surgical outcome are a major public health concern and the incidence is expected to increase significantly. The acute recovery phase after hip fracture surgery in elder patients is often complicated by severe pain, high morphine consumption, perioperative blood loss with subsequent transfusion and delirium.

As stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) is a highly dose-dense radiotherapy, adverse events of neighboring normal tissues are a major concern. This study thus aimed to clarify the frequency and degree of clinical symptoms in patients with rib fractures after SBRT for primary lung cancer and to reveal risk factors for rib fracture.

As dose-escalation in prostate cancer radiotherapy improves cure rates, a major concern is rectal toxicity. We prospectively assessed an innovative approach of hydrogel injection between prostate and rectum to reduce the radiation dose to the rectum and thus side effects in dose-escalated prostate radiotherapy.

The aim of the trial is to demonstrate that with the use of modern IMRT/IGRT and reduction of safety margins postoperative wound complications can be reduced. The present study protocol prospectively evaluates the use of IMRT/IGRT for neoadjuvant RT in patients with soft tissue sarcomas of the extremity with the primary endpoint wound complications, which is the major concern with this treatment sequence.

The discovery of a solitary pulmonary nodule (SPN) on a chest imaging exam is of major clinical concern. However, the incidence rates of SPNs in a general population have not been estimated. The objective of this study was to provide incidence estimates of SPNs in a general population in 5 northeastern regions of France.

A severe lack of early diagnosis coupled with resistance to most available therapeutic options renders pancreatic cancer as a major clinical concern. The limited efficacy of current treatments necessitates the development of novel therapeutic strategies that are based on an understanding of the molecular mechanisms involved in pancreatic cancer progression.

Antibiotic resistance and the clinical efficacy of existing antibiotics have become a major cause of concern. The indiscriminate use of commercial antimicrobial drugs to treat infectious diseases has also sometimes been associated with negative effects on the host such as hypersensitivity, immune response and allergic reactions. Hence there is need to develop alternative antimicrobial drugs to treat infectious disease from various sources including plants.

Non-fermenting gram negative bacilli (NFGNB) are known to account for nearly 12- 16% all bacterial isolates from a clinical microbiology laboratory. The most common infections caused by these organisms were septicemia, pneumonia, urinary tract infections, surgical site infections, wound infections, osteomyelitis, etc. As multidrug resistances being very common and increasing among NFGNB and Pseudomonas and Acinetobacter being the most predominantly isolated NFGNB and its resistance towards colistin and imepenam type of antimicrobials is of major concern.

Critical care populations are at high risk for Multi drug resistant organisms (MDRO) colonization because of rampant use of broad-spectrum antibiotics leading to colonization with resistant strains, Screening for MDR organisms is one of the many approaches needed to deal with the very major clinical problem concerning drug resistance.

Carbapenem resistance has become a worldwide issue and a major reason of concern for the treating physicians. Plasmid mediated metallo-beta-lactamases (MBLs) as well as oxacillinases (OXA) are responsible for carbapenem resistance. Various phenotypic as well as genotypic screening methods are used for detecting carbapenemases and MBLs. The strains were first and foremost screened for carbapenem resistance by Kirby-Bauer Disc Diffusion method.

Immunosuppression significantly decreases the ability of young poultry to respond effectively to standard vaccinations, and also predisposes them to infection by other specific pathogens. How- ever, sub-clinical immunosuppression is often not readily appar- ent to the farmer, and therefore a common “silent” cause of significant economic losses. Pathogens causing such infectious disease conditions are termed “erosive” for site productivity (Shane, 2004).
