Malnutrition parameters

Previous reports suggest that the attributes of frailty are multidimensional and include nutrition, cognition, mentality, and other aspects. We aim to develop an early warning model of frailty based on nutritional risk screening and apply the frailty early warning model in the clinic to screen high-risk patients and provide corresponding intervention target information.

To eradicate the malnutrition problem and improve the protein deficient diet and low yield of pea, it is necessary to increase pea production per unit area on sustainable basis to meet the requirement of increasing population of the nation. In view of that, experiment was executed to examine the response of four different organic manures viz. farmyard manure, vermicompost, castor cake and poultry manure as a source of nitrogen with or without chemical fertilizers like phosphorus and potassium and biofertilizer i.e. PSB were tested during the year of 2012 and 2013.

Development of micronutrient enriched staple foods is an important breeding goal in view of the extensive problem of ‘hidden hunger’ caused by micronutrient malnutrition. Iron and zinc are micronutrients essential to the human diet but are in deficient supply to many to many in the Tropics. In an effort to this problem through genetic improvement, field trials of Rice (60 Genotypes) were conducted at Jagtial during kharif 2014 to study the Association and path analysis.

This research study was planned to analyze body composition parameters of students in ASPEE College of Home Science & Nutrition, SDAU. It is crucial to point out here that body composition parameters of majority of the students did not fall within optimum level category. It gives a sign of malnutrition amongst them. This issue needs to deal with urgently by sensitizing students about their health and nutrition level.

Traditional Indian snacks namely Matthi and Seviya using partially defatted peanut cake flour at 10 per cent level and powdered fenugreek leaves powder at 1 per cent level were developed with an aim to eradicate malnutrition. The freshly prepared products were analysed for their nutritional parameters.

Malnutrition is largely prevalent in tribal population in India. In the year 2006, the Ministry of Panchayati Raj considered Sabarkantha as one of the country's 250 most backward districts (out of a total of 640). Six districts of Gujarat are receiving funds from the Backward Regions Grant Fund Programme (BRGF) and Sabarkantha is one of them. Considering this background in mind, the present study was carried out to assess prevalence of malnutrition amongst tribal children of Sabarkantha district. Two tribal taluka viz. Khedbrahma and Poshina were purposively selected for the study.

Anthropometrics Anthropometric measurements provide information on body muscle mass and fat reserves. The most practical and commonly used measurements are body weight, height, triceps skinfold (TSF), and mid-arm muscle circumference (MAMC). Body weight is one of the most useful nutritional parameters to follow in patients who are acutely or chronically ill. Unintentional weight loss during illness often reflects loss of lean body mass (muscle and organ tissue), especially if it is rapid and not caused by diuresis.
