  • The aim of this paper is to analyze the spillover effects of FDI on domestically owned firms' efficiency and efficiency convergence in manufacture of machinery industry in Vietnam. Methodologically, we approach this question in two steps. In the first step, we estimate firms’ efficiency by using CCR model and test the effects of FDI spillovers on firms’ efficiency. In the second step, we test efficiency convergence and identify the impact of FDI spillover effects through the horizontal and vertical channels on efficiency convergence.

  • One the most noteworthy characteristics of ME is the industry’s close links with both high-tech upstream industries and a broad range of client industries. It provides the explanation of why ME is coined as an enabler. It is of crucial importance for the transmission of basic inventions and innovations. Another approach is to assess the importance of industries as clients for final ME goods.

  • Industrialization is the widespread development of profitmaking businesses that manufacture products on a large scale, using labor-saving machinery. Understanding the history of the development of industrialization in the United States, which took place over two centuries, involves learning about some of its technical elements, such as technology and the economy. But the history of U.S. industrialism is also a dramatic story of people rising and falling from power or struggling desperately to make the world a better place.

  • A humanist educational model can be defined as a system in which human values, dignity, reason and fulfilment in harmony with nature predominates. By contrast, the present system is based on utilitarian values to transform knowledge into commodities. Within this context we see the dehumanization of our children, young people and students. I assume that the function of higher education is to reify ruling class values into the social consciousness of students, and to train students to serve the capitalist machinery.

  • The names Bloch and Geitner are synonymous with machinery maintenance and reliability for process plants. They save companies like Dow and Equilon millions of dollars a year by extending the life of rotating machinery in their plants. Extending the life of existing machinery is the name of the game in the process industries, not designing new machinery. This series by Bloch and Geitner was the first and is still the best, most comprehensive source for doing just that.
