  • The aim of this paper is to construct an Augmented Dynamic Model of Job Creation for Malaysian Manufacturing Sector. The previous studies on job creation model focus on the static model where the job creation influenced by real wages, real output, assets, expenditure of research and development (R&D), lag of R&D, export and foreign labour. However, the aggregate rate of unemployment in Malaysia could not explain the dynamic of labour market. The dynamic of labour market can be explained more precisely through the formula of job flows (including job creation and job destruction).

  • This paper presents the methodology adopted by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) for countries to carry out emission inventories. The three tier approach for glass industry was briefly described with their formulae for CO2 emissions based on data of total production output or on the input carbonate consumption. Application of the method for flat glass manufacturing in Vietnam, the total emissions each year from 2010 to 2015 were estimated. Results show that the industry will emit nearly 200 thousand tons of CO2 in the year 2020.

  • Adequate supply of energy is important for sustainable growth in an economy. The rate of the growth of the Nigeria’s electricity development is very slow and not effective compare to other emerging economies; this on the other hands has discouraged production, most especially in the manufacturing sector. In light of this, the study investigates the long-run impact of electricity consumption on manufacturing sector performance proxy by output, employment and capital using Canonical Cointegrating Regression for the period of 1981-2019.

  • In recent years, developing countries like Nigeria with large human and natural resources have attracted huge investment leading to a rise in foreign investment into the Nigerian economy. To create the conditions that would attract more Foreign Direct Investment into the manufacturing subsector, the right infrastructure must be put in place. This study examined the relationship between Foreign Direct Investment, infrastructure and manufacturing output in Nigeria. Time series data between the periods of 1981 and 2016 was used.

  • The main objective of the study is to explore government expenditure, CO2 emission and manufacturing output in one model. These comprehensive literature reviews related to this topic of interest prove evidence upon variations towards the causality relationship that exists between government expenditure, CO2 emission and manufacturing output. Most of past literatures had studied on the relationship of these variables, however separately.

  • Managing the color uniformity of WLEDs means controlling the size and concentration of ZnO. With the concentration of 10% ZnO, the lumen output of LEDs reaches the highest values. Meanwhile, when the concentration and size of ZnO are 14% and 500 nm respectively, ∆CCT is reduced to the lowest value. Based on the manufacturers' requirements, the most appropriate ZnO concentration and particle size can be determined. However, if requirements include both lumen and color uniformity, the right choice is 14% concentration with 500 nm particle size of ZnO.

  • The Krasnodar territory is considered one of most attractive regions in Russia in terms of its climatic characteristics for the development of renewable energy sources. According to the current plans of Russian Ministry of Energy, the cumulative capacity of wind generating facilities in the Krasnodar Territory will reach 405 MW by 2022. It is well known form the literature, the average installed capacity utilization factor of wind turbines currently is about 30%.

  • Improving the technical parameters of the machining process is an effective solution to save manufacturing costs. The purpose of this work is to decrease energy consumption (EC) and average surface roughness(ASR) for the milling process of AISI H13 steel. The spindle speed (S), depth of cut (a), and feed rate (f) were the processing inputs. The milling runs were performed using the experimental plan generated by the Box-Behnken method approach. The relationships between inputs and outputs were established using the response surface models (RSM).

  • The objective of the study is to establish whether quoted manufacturing companies in Nigeria are operating on the production possibility frontier, that is, if they are technically and scale efficient. In pursuance of this, the study adopted the output orientated DEA with input variables as total asset, shareholder’s equity, cost of goods sold and operating expenses, while the output variables are sales/turnover, net profit, return on asset, and return on equity. Output orientated DEAP Version 2.1 package with variable return to scale assumption using multi-stage DEA is employed.

  • The manufacturing public enterprises have now begun to realize the significance of enhancing labour productivity with the emerging environment of competition and liberalization. The ever-growing process of globalization, the open-door policy to imports, and the obvious shift to buyer's market have thrown new demands and challenges on these enterprises. Given these opportunities and challenges provided by the emerging realities, the enterprises have now to match markets with products and other corporate resources more effectively and efficiently to strengthen their competitive advantage.

  • The problem of hardware Trojans is becoming more serious especially with the widespread of fabless design houses and design reuse. Hardware Trojans can be embedded on chip during manufacturing or in third party intellectual property cores (IPs) during the design process. Recent research is performed to detect Trojans embedded at manufacturing time by comparing the suspected chip with a golden chip that is fully trusted. However, Trojan detection in third party IP cores is more challenging than other logic modules especially that there is no golden chip.

  • Highly tensile manganese steel is in great demand owing to its high tensile strength under shock loads. All workpieces are produced through casting, because it is highly difficult to machine. The probabilistic aspects of its casting, its variable composition, and the different casting techniques must all be considered for the optimisation of its mechanical properties. A hybrid strategy is therefore proposed which combines decision trees and artificial neural networks (ANNs) for accurate and reliable prediction models for ore crushing plate lifetimes.

  • The industrial reforms of the 1980s and early 1990s were accompanied by financial reforms beginning in the mid-1980s. These increased local financial autonomy and reduced the central government’s budgetary support for most firms. Even today, however, firms apply to the central government for budgetary assistance for their largest capital investments. The overall impact of the full set of reforms has been growth in the manufacturing sector at an average annual rate of fifteen percent since 1978.
