This book provides a framework for integrating risk management into the management of projects. It explains how to do this through the definition of generic risk management processes and shows how these processes can be mapped onto the stages of the project life cycle. As the disciplines of formal project management are being applied ever more widely (e.g., to the management of change within organizations) so the generic project risk management processes set out here will readily find use in diverse areas of application.

A Luoi is a mountainous district of Thua Thien Hue province, Vietnam, with rugged terrain, steep slopes, and many valleys. A Luoi district bears many risks of natural disasters such as storms, floods, droughts, and landslides yearly. This study applied the AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) model with the GIS tool on the input database of Sentinel-2B Image, DEM, and geographic background data to evaluate the influence of 5 factors: slope, elevation, aspect, land cover, and vegetation to generate a landslide hazard zoning map, scale 1:50,000.

The objective of research study "Regional post-earthquake damage estimation using Gaussian geostatistical simulation" is to estimate post-earthquake damage at the regional level using Gaussian geostatistical simulation in the study area of 2 provinces: Phitsanulok and Phichit. This study is useful in providing warnings to those involved in the area as well as planning responses in the event of an earthquake occurring on a fault that has not yet been discovered.

Genome-wide association studies of asthma have revealed robust associations with variation across the human leukocyte antigen (HLA) complex with independent associations in the HLA class I and class II regions for both childhood-onset asthma (COA) and adult-onset asthma (AOA). However, the specific variants and genes contributing to risk are unknown.

Asthma is the most common chronic disease in children, occurring at higher frequencies and with more severe disease in children with African ancestry. Previously unknown genetic variation at the 17q12-21 childhood-onset asthma locus contributes to asthma severity in individuals with African ancestries. We suggest that many other population-specific variants that have not been discovered in GWAS contribute to the genetic risk for asthma and other common diseases.

Metabolic pathways are related to physiological functions and disease states and are influenced by genetic variation and environmental factors. Hispanics/Latino individuals have ancestry-derived genomic regions (local ancestry) from their recent admixture that have been less characterized for associations with metabolite abundance and disease risk.

Ebook "Modern biogeochemistry: Environmental risk assessment" quantitative ecological risk assessment is widely used in different contexts, however very often without an understanding of the natural mechanisms that drive the processes of environmental and human risk. Its application is often accompanied by high uncertainty about risk values. On the other hand, the sustainability of modern technoecosystems is known because of their natural biogeochemical cycling that has been transformed to various extents by anthropogenic studies.

This article presents the results of applying geospatial technology to assess soil erosion for Yen Chau district. Geospatial Technology was applied to build maps of factors affecting soil erosion such as: rain erosion coefficient map (R), soil erosion resistance coefficient map (K), terrain erosion coefficient map (LS), cover erosion coefficient map (C) and farming practices (P). Improved universal soil loss equation (RUSLE) due to Wischmeier and Smith was used to create soil erosion maps.

Canine atopic dermatitis (CAD) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease triggered by allergic reactions involving IgE antibodies directed towards environmental allergens. We previously identified a ~1.5 Mb locus on canine chromosome 27 associated with CAD in German shepherd dogs (GSDs). Fine-mapping indicated association closest to the PKP2 gene encoding plakophilin 2.

Hoa Binh is one of the provinces strongly suffering from natural disasters, especially flash floods. High slope mountainous terrains, reduced vegetation cover and unfavorable weather conditions form favorable conditions for flash floods to occur. This article develops a map of flash flood risk zoning in Hoa Binh using remote sensing and GIS technology.
