This paper summarizes mollusk biodiversity data recorded over 15 years in the North-Eastern Archipelago of Vietnam. It is intended to document environmental changes in an area of remarkable environmental significance during the country’s rapid economic growth and vigorous development, causing unprecedented threats to the marine realm and its biota.

The paper "Development of web GIS for inventory of Vietnam marine protected areas" aims to develop a dashboard for an inventory of Vietnam MPAs system. Based on biodiversity conservation policies and regulations, indicators are selected. Geospatial data are pulled from Protected Planet and Open Development Vietnam. Statistical data are collected from legal documents, journal articles, conference proceedings, MPAs’ websites and books from 2010 to 2023.

Ebook "Deep marine mineral resources" takes stock of knowledge about mineralisations and associated metals, technologies for exploring and exploiting them, biodiversity and the potential impact of exploitation on the deep environment and the partnerships which are vital for France and Europe. This information will be useful for decision-makers in drawing up strategies, defining research and development programmes and in enhancing and developing commercial utilizations for these high-potential resources.

The study investigated the Phaeophyceae during the year 2019 at sixteen sampling sites representative for Cham islands. Specimens were collected by scuba diving, snorkelling and walking at the upper tidal zone in both dry and rainy seasons. Twenty-five species of the Phaeophyceae identified for Cham islands from four orders, four families and eleven genera.

The current article provides an overview of the experiences and lessons learned have been generated from attempts to develop PES in marine and coastal realm from around the world. By reviewing the literature, we aim to identify prospects which need to be taken into account for the successful application of payments for coastal and marine ecosystem services for the case of Vietnam.

“Conservation genomics” encompasses the idea that genome-scale data will improve the capacity of resource managers to protect species. Although genetic approaches have long been used in conservation research, it has only recently become tractable to generate genome-wide data at a scale that is useful for conservation.

In this study, we present the first in-water monitoring results of loggerhead turtles (Caretta caretta) in Köyceğiz-Dalyan specially protected area (SPA), Turkey. The capture-mark-recapture (CMR) study encompassed a total of 113 capture events of 88 individuals across two sampling years. The majority of the population was adults (88.6%) with a highly male-biased (70.5%) sex ratio. Our results indicate that some of the overwintering individuals also contribute to the nesting population in the region. Biometric characteristics of captured individuals were also presented.

The results showed that the growth rate of corals will return to normal after 4 months rehabilitation. The factors affected the effective coral rehabilitation including: Coral reef predators, spatial competition among species, environmental conditions change due to human‟s activities; and other factors such as hydrodynamic regimes, cutting fragment corals cause its injury damage.

Seaweed and seagrass form marine submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV), which plays an essential role in economic development and ecological protection in coastal areas. In this study, PlanetScope (PS )imaging data was combined with in situ samplings to demonstrate their ability to map SAV distribution in An Chan commune, Tuy An district, Phu Yen province, Central Vietnam.

Building a set of criteria used as a scientific basis for conservation zoning of natural marine resources is essential. In this study, we propose a set of criteria to select the suitable natural clam beds of Lutraria rhynchaena for protection priority from 16 sites in Cat Ba - Ha Long bay. Research results have built a set of 13 different criteria, including area, density, benthic substrate, food organisms, turbidity, water flow, water depth, predators, salinity, benthic organisms, pollution, area location and zoning conflicts.

The concept of marine reserves has been repeatedly addressed in the past 25 years, but implementation and subsequent evaluation of these protected areas has been relatively infrequent until the past decade. In recent years, there has been strong advocacy for reserves among the conservation community and those concerned about losses of habitat and biodiversity in the sea.
