ESI greatly enhanced the ability to characterize protein and peptides by MS.
ESI requires the sample of interest to be in solution- flow in to the ionization source region.
To ionize the sample, high voltage is applied, result in the sample becoming positively or negatively charged; however, positive ionization is used primarily in the analysis proteins and peptides.
As it exits the spray tip, the solution produces submicrometer-sized droplets containing both solute and analyte ions. The sample is then desorbed of solute prior to entering the analyzer region....

The thesis "Racist disinformation on the Web: the role of anti-racist sites in providing balance" provides a synthesis of the academic literature and media coverage related to Australian racism and racist disinformation on the Web, leading to new insights about the range and depth of issues concerned. An analysis of the data collected concludes that while anti-racist websites take on diverse roles in tackling racism, few provide content directly to balance Web racist disinformation.

In this work, the equipment was used to investigate the distribution of lithium (7Li) and boron (11B) in the outer oxide at the bow contact area. Depth profiling in the clad oxide at the opposite side of the rod to the point of contact, which is considered to have experienced normal operating conditions and which has a typical oxide thickness, evidenced levels of ∼10–20 ppm 7Li and a 11B content reaching hundreds of ppm in the outer parts of the oxide, largely in agreement with the expected range of Li and B clad oxide concentrations from previous studies.

A search has been initiated for lead inhibitors of the non-structural protein 3 (NS3)-associated NTPase/helicase activities of hepatitis C virus,the related West Nile virus, Japanese encephalitis virus and the human mitochondrial Suv3 enzyme. Cdc37 is a molecular chaperone that interacts with a range of clients and co-chaperones, forming various high molecular mass complexes. Cdc37 sequence homology among species is low. High homology between yeast and metazoan proteins is restricted to the extreme N-terminal region, which is known to bind clients that are predominantly protein kinases.

The cometabolism of citrate and glucose by growing Lactococcus lactisssp. lactis bv. diacetylactis was studied using a natural-abundance stable isotope technique. By a judicious choice of substrates differing slightly in their 13 C/ 12 C ratios, the simultaneous metabolism of citrate and glucose to a range of compounds was analysed. These end-products include lactate, acetate, formate, diacetyl and acetoin. All these products have pyruvate as a common intermediate.
