Several studies have been carried out by optimising only the cost. They have not considered some other risk factors such as political and economic factors in their modelling. Currently, there is no generalised model available to determine the optimal sourcing locations incorporating important factors including risks in international LNG trading. In this study, 12 risk factors were taken into consideration to evaluate the risk.

Nowadays, the concept of globalization seems reduced to the size of the market and, export is only one aspect of the phenomenon of globalization. In global industries, it is now the most competitive positions and bases of competitiveness which should be established worldwide. Therefore, globalization raises strategies to become more global rather than local. Those strategies consist in expanding and coordinating all activities of the company worldwide.

This thesis researched the influence of ETBs on exporters from developing countries and their corresponding strategies through a case study of the Chinese organic food industry. Initially, a description of international trade and world export was developed, including their roles in the process of globalization. Trade barriers generated in international trade were then explained, with the focus on NTBs, especially ETBs. Lastly, the link between ETBs and market access was described and then the purpose of this study was proposed.

This thesis examines empirically whether there is a link between education and economic growth in Chile during the period 1973-2005. This is done through the adoption of time-series analysis and co-integration techniques. Based on economic theory and empirical findings, potential implications for Chilean educational policy are then discussed.
