Keeping the above factors in view, an attempt has been made to develop a mini-tractor operated weeding matching tool for weeding operation of multi crop for intensive and commercial farming system in India which can save time as well as money.

Selection of tractor and implements has been very important aspect in farm mechanization because of availability of variety of tractor models ranging from 15 to 75 kW and variety of implement sizes in the market. The main purpose of the study was to develop a computer based decision support system which could be able to predict the size of tractor required for an implement and vice-versa for a selected soil type and soil conditions. The decision support system was developed in visual studio platform using visual basic dot net programming language as front end MS Access as backend.

Small landholders cannot afford to buy tractor as well as maintenance of bullocks has become very costly particularly when they are not in use. By using the multipurpose power unit the small and medium farmers can avoid the year round maintenance of bullocks and also the high investment in tractors. The multipurpose tillage tool carrier (MPTC) developed and tested along with ploughing (primary tillage) and leveling (secondary tillage).

Proper matching of implements with any type of tractor and the performance evaluation with its combination is very much important to minimize the expenditure in farming operations. An improper matching of tractor-implement combination produced an under loading of engine and hence higher operating costs and poor efficiency. For small farm holding, large tractors are not economical for cutting of stubbles of crops due to excessive operation cost. The main disadvantage of using large tractor is excessive waste of power and high fuel consumption.

Availability of draft requirement data of primary and secondary tillage implement is necessary to implement selection, tractor- implement matching and determination of fuel consumption for different tillage systems. In this research, pull type load cell was along with an auxiliary tractor was used to determine the draft requirement of selected tillage implement. It was observed that the draft requirement of Mb plough was maximum at 619 kgf compared to disc plough, disc harrow and cultivator. The draft effecting soil parameters were also determined.
