Repeat breeding, which is defined as cattle failure to conceive after three or more inseminations in the absence of clinical abnormalities, is a substantial problem in cattle breeding. To identify maternal genetic variants of repeat breeding in Japanese Black cattle, we selected 29 repeat-breeding heifers that failed to conceive following embryo transfer (ET) and conducted a genome-wide association study (GWAS) using the traits.

The maternally inherited mitochondrial genome encodes key proteins of the electron transfer chain, which produces the vast majority of cellular ATP. Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) present in the mature oocyte acts as a template for all mtDNA that is replicated during development to meet the specific energy requirements of each tissue.

Septic arthritis often occurs in young calves when the passive transfer of maternal immunoglobulins has failed, which results in hypogammaglobulinaemia in the calf. Another important cause is suboptimal herd health management which often leads to general health impairment and, subsequently, to septic arthritis.

The discovery of a fetal cells transfer to the mother is a phenomenon with multiple implications for autoimmunity and tolerance. The prevalence and meaning of the feto-maternal microchimerism (MC) in rheumatic diseases has not been thoroughly investigated.

The Maternally expressed gene (Meg) family is a locally-duplicated gene family of maize which encodes cysteine-rich proteins (CRPs). The founding member of the family, Meg1, is required for normal development of the basal endosperm transfer cell layer (BETL) and is involved in the allocation of maternal nutrients to growing seeds.

Passive transferred antibodies to the fetus play an essential role on protecting neonates and young infants until infant vaccination is more efficacious. However, very little is known about the discrepancy of DTP vaccine associated antibodies level in neonates from different economic areas in China.

Public expenditure on health is financed mainly through a combination of contributions and general tax revenue transfers to the health insurance scheme. There has been increasing reliance on the latter in recent years. Participation in the health insurance scheme is compulsory for all citizens living in Hungary, and opting out is not permitted. Based on the current legal framework, coverage should theoretically be 100%, but the health insurance status of approximately 4% of the population is unclear. The benefits package is comprehensive but not exhaustive.

In 2001, as many as 7.0 billion credit transfers were processed by the German banking industry. 460.1 million of them were submitted via PC or terminal from customers to their bank. As the number of internet-linked accounts increases in Germany as well as customer acceptance of using the modern communication infrastructure for accessing their banks, this number is expected to increase further.

In recent years a number of factors have had a significant impact on the capacity of maternity services and midwives to deliver quality care. Many more women and families are recognised as having complex physical and social needs including women and families living in poverty; migrant women who do not speak English as a first language; teenage mothers; women who are misusing drugs and alcohol; women who are obese and those who have long-term conditions such as diabetes. In addition the average age of first birth is now 29.4 years compared with 28.

Where an acquisition exceeds the specified threshold or there is a change in control of a listed company, the acquirer must provide an exit opportunity to the shareholders through a timely public offer with appropriate disclosures. In certain acquisitions, such as an inter se transfer of shares between the promoter, Indian promoter and foreign collaborator, pursuant to a scheme of arrangement/amalgamation, no open offer is required, subject to disclosures being made. The government can order the amalgamation of two or more companies if this is in the public interest.

Gynecomastia Gynecomastia refers to enlargement of the male breast. It is caused by excess estrogen action and is usually the result of an increased estrogen/androgen ratio. True gynecomastia is associated with glandular breast tissue that is 4 cm in diameter and often tender. Glandular tissue enlargement should be distinguished from excess adipose tissue: glandular tissue is firmer and contains fibrous-like cords.

Host Defense Mechanisms Preventing meningococcal growth in blood requires bactericidal and opsonic antibodies, complement, and phagocytes (Fig. 136-3). The major bactericidal antibodies are IgM and IgG, which (except for serogroup B) bind to the capsular polysaccharide. Immunity to meningococci is therefore serogroup specific. Antibodies to other surface (subcapsular) antigens may confer crossserogroup protection. PorA, PorB, Opc, and LOS appear to be major targets of cross-reactivity and of serogroup B bactericidal antibodies.
