This study aimed to develop a method using DNA barcode fragments to identify the hybrid Eucalyptus UP99 and UP95. The total genomic DNA was extracted from leaf samples of UP99 and UP95 and was used to amplify the DNA barcodes (matK, rbcL, trnH-psbA, ITS and ITS2) by PCR.

The study using molecular data from three DNA regions (matK, rbcL, and trnH-psbA) supported the monophyly of Melodinus. The M. cochinchinensis from Vietnam and China are closely related. There are some genetic variations in the sequences of Melodinus cochinchinensis from Belgium versus Asiatic M. cochinchinensis, as well as the phylogenetic position of the species, suggesting the possibility of misidentification of M. cochinchinensis from Belgium.

Camellia sinensis var. madoensisis is described and illustrated as a new variety of Camellia sinensis (section Thea, Theaceae) from Xuan Loc Commune, Song Cau District, Phu Yen Province. The ITS sequence of this variety is also different from that of Camellia sinensis and its other varieties, while the matK gene sequences are nearly identical among Camellia taxa.

In this study, we sequenced the chloroplast gene region (matK) to identify the genetic characteristics of T. chantrieri and their phylogenetic inference in the genus Tacca in Ba Vi National Park (Ba Vi NP). This study contributes to developing a DNA barcode database as a foundation for conservation, evolution, and biological systems.

In the study "Genetic relationship analysis of Dendrobium anosmum Lindl. var. semialba based on the chloroplast matK and rbcL genes", the genetic relationship of Dendrobium anosmum Lindl. var. semialba species was determined based on the analysis of chloroplast matK, rbcL gene sequences. The matK and rbcL genes of twelve species were amplified and their DNA sequenced.chloroplast matK and rbcL genes

Alocasia rivularis (Araceae) is proposed as a new species from central Vietnam. The new species is morphologically similar to those of the Cuprea Group of Alocasia, but according to results of the trnL-trnF IGS and matK sequences, and based on morphological differences, it is clearly different from the closest congeners. Phylogenetic analysis, descriptions, and illustrations are provided.

Ehretia asperula, popular as a medicinal herb that has potential on cancer treatment, has a limited research about its phylogeny relationships. With many innovative advancements in molecular biology, it is more easy and reliable to identify the taxonomic position of a species by molecular markers- DNA barcode. In this study, we used three different markers, ITS1, trnL-trnF, and matK, to evaluate E. asperula’s systematic position. Based on ITS1 sequence, E. asperula belongs to clade Ehretia I and is a close relative of E. resinosa.

Arisaema condaoense V.D. Nguyen was described as a new species from Con Dao National Park, Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province, Vietnam in 2000. However, this species has been suspected of being a form of Arisaema roxburghii Kunth, a species widespread in the whole Indochina and Malay Peninsula.

Using morphological comparison method, the authors identified that the specimens collected in Binh Chau-Phuoc Buu Nature Reserve is Rothmannia wittii. Information on the distribution of this species in Vietnam was also reported. Moreover, based on molecular biology techniques, the matK and trnL-F regions of R. wittii were successfully amplified and sequenced.

Results about a phylogenetic analysis of the genus Onobrychis Mill., tribe Hedysareae DC. are presented. The systematic knowledge of tribe Hedysareae is still incomplete, with difficult circumscription of genera and species. Analyses were undertaken using both nuclear (ITS) and chloroplast (matK) markers for a set of 78 accessions covering 41 Onobrychis species, besides previously sequenced Hedysareae accessions.

Although Opuntia species are of high agronomic value in Korea, the taxonomic position of Korean Opuntia species has never been investigated. The taxonomic position of Korean Opuntia spp. within the tribe Opuntieae was examined based on DNA sequence analysis of matK, trnL-F, atpB-rbcl, and ITS regions.
