  • "Effects of the strong El Nino 2015-2016 on the sea surface salinity over Southern Vietnam as observed by remote sensing data" show that a wide salinification is observed over most of the Southern Vietnam Sea during the mature phase of El Nino. Our results show that the spatial and temporal variability of sea surface salinity is different between the Southern Vietnam Sea during 2015-2016. In the northern regions, sea surface salinity increases during the mature phase of El Nino.

  • We describe the development of a nursing home information technology (IT) maturity model designed to capture stages of IT maturity. Materials and Methods: This study had 2 phases. The purpose of phase I was to develop a preliminary nursing home IT maturity model. Phase II involved 3 rounds of questionnaires administered to a Delphi panel of expert nursing home administrators to evaluate the validity of the nursing home IT maturity model proposed in phase I.

  • Maturity-onset diabetes of the young comprises a large group of autosomal inherited gene mutations. Maturity-onset diabetes of the young subtype 5 is caused by mutations in the HNF1B gene. This gene is expressed in the early phase of embryonic development in the pancreas, kidneys, liver, and genital tract; therefore, kidney or urinary tract malformations are associated with diabetes mellitus.

  • Wounds cause structural and functional discontinuity of an organ. Wound healing, therefore, seeks to re-establish the normal morphology and functionality through intertwined stages of hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and tissue remodelling. Ivermectin, a macrolide, has been used as an endectoparasiticide in human and veterinary medicine practice for decades.

  • Prolongation of superstimulatory treatment appears to be associated with a greater superovulatory response and with greater oocyte maturation in cattle. A genome-wide bovine oligo-microarray was used to compare the gene expression of granulosa cells collected from ovarian follicles after differing durations of the growing phase induced by exogenous FSH treatment.

  • Flax (Linum usitatissimum L.) is a food, fiber and oil seed crop cultivated in cooler regions. The oil content of the seed varies from 33–47%. In India it is grown mainly for seed used for extracting oil. The crop is affected by Alternaria blight caused by Alternaria spp. Different doses of microalgae were applied (@ 1.5, 2.5, 3.5, 4.5, 5.5 and 6.5 kg/acre) with irrigation at critical growth stages of crop (vegetative phase, flowering phase and maturity phase) and observations were recorded on plant growth parameters and per cent disease incidence of Alternaria Blight.

  • Plant species that bear fruits often utilize expansion of ovary (carpel) or accessory tissue as a vehicle for seed dispersal. Once the seed (s) mature, the tissue (s) of the fruit follow habitual progression of cell division and cell expansion, promoting growth of the fruit. As with many developmental processes in plants, plant hormones play important role in the synchronization of signals between the developing seed and its surrounding fruit tissue(s) regulating each phase of fruit development.

  • A fruit can be defined as a mature ovary. Fruit development can generally be considered to occur in four phases, viz., fruit set phase, rapid cell division, cell enlargement, and maturation and ripening. Generally, fruit development follows a sigmoid growth. But, in case of stone fruits and some other fruits double sigmoid growth curve is noticed. Fruit set normally requires the full completion of fertilization, although in some plants fertilization can be bypassed leading to the formation of a seedless fruit, a process referred to as parthenocarpy. • A field experiment was conducted during Rabi season 2016-17 at Farm Research Centre, College of Forestry, SHUATS, Allahabad to calculate agro-meteorological indices of wheat crop under three date of sowing i.e. 5th November, 15th November and 25th November and three variety i.e. HD-2967, PBW-502, PBW-154. Wheat crop sown on 5th November utilised more thermal and heat units as compared to 15th November and 25th November sown crops. The shortening of the duration of the crop sown late was due to forced maturity because of higher temperature during reproductive phase of the crop.

  • Surveys were undertaken for characterization and evaluation of genetic diversity of Jamun (Syzygium cumini L.) of seedling origin for different horticultural traits during 2013 and 2014 in the Jamun growing areas of Jammu sub-tropical areas. Investigations were undertaken during the entire reproductive phase to assess the distribution, range and to record the range of genetic variability of different horticultural traits on the selected forty trees. Mature fruits were harvested and analyzed for different fruit characteristics.

  • Field experiment on “Performance of photo sensitive Rice cv. RNR 15048 (Telangana Sona) under varied nitrogen levels and environmental conditions” was carried out during Kharif 2016 at Agricultural Research Institute, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad. The experiment was laid out in split plot design with five dates of sowing [5 Jun (D1), 20 Jun (D2), 5Jul (D3), 20Jul (D4) and 5 Aug (D5)] as main plots and two nitrogen levels (N1: 120 kg N ha-1 ; N2: 160 kg N ha-1 ) as sub-plots replicated thrice. Flowering duration of rice was influenced by dates of sowing.

  • Coconut has a prolonged reproductive phase of 44 months from the initiation of the inflorescence primordium to full maturity of the nuts. Weather affects all stages of the long development cycle and thus there is likely to be extended predictability based on climate variability. An attempt is being made to relate the coconut sample survey data of Coconut Development Board with climate data of Chanrayapatna taluk of Hassan district. Mean nut yield per palm, per year in the Chanrayapatna taluk was 83.3. Among the villages, Baldare recorded significantly lower nut yield (78.

The experiment was conducted in split plot design on wheat variety UP-2565 to study phenological development and yield of wheat in relation to sowing dates, seed priming and foliar nutrition. Main plot treatments consisted of two sowing date i.e. timely (November 28) and late (December 28) and seed priming with 2.0% KCl for 12 hours and non-primed seed. Sub plot treatment consisted of foliar treatment including foliar spray of 0.

  • Chickpea is a cool season pulse and suffers severe yield losses when exposed to higher temperatures during reproductive phase. Stable chickpea production will depend on the release of new cultivars with improved adaptation to drought and high temperature. Twenty five breeding lines of two crosses JG 11 x JG 14 and JAKI 9218 x JG 14 were assessed under timely and late sown situations. High variability was observed for majority of the traits in both the seasons.
