  • In this study, two indigenous Chlorella strains were evaluated for triacylglycerol (TAG) production and related parameters during 10 days of N-deprivation. The strains were identified based on morphological characteristics and genomic information, named as Chlorella sp. IMU12 and Chlorella sp. IMU17. Time-dependent reduction of growth was accompanied by decreased chlorophyll content, reduced oxygen evolution ratio, and elevated carotenoid content of both strains cultivated in N-free Bold’s basal medium.

  • For each selected value of pyrolysis temperature, three levels of residence time for pyrolysis process were set as 0, 60 and 120 minutes, respectively. Some properties of the final product from the pyrolysis process i.e volatile, ash content, fixed-carbon and higher heating value (HHV) were measured. The experimental results have shown that in the current range of experimental work, charcoal products could get the highest fixed-carbon content at the pyrolysis temperature of 6000C and with the residence time of 120 minutes.

  • Traditional farming has imbalance and excess use of chemicals and, in turn, to negative environmental impacts on soil health, groundwater, and atmosphere. Sensor based farming system should be more sustainable to reach economical and social profitability as well as the sustainable environment. A correct solution is to adopt precision farming, the best option for sustaining food production without declining the ecosystem.

  • A study was carried out in the Department of Soil Science, DRPCAU, Pusa, Bihar during 2014-15 to evaluate physiological properties of Rhizobium isolated from winged bean, pea, gram, lentil and moong. Production of indole acetic acid (IAA), resistance to antibiotics and tolerance to variable pH are some important key concerns for its adaptability to various soil conditions as inoculants. Rhizobia, in general, followed a similar trend towards pH tolerance in terms of growth (measured as OD) i.e., their growth was higher around neutral pH.

  • The reaction between natural organic matter (NOM) and chlorine during disinfection of water potentially forms trihalomethanes (THMs), which are classified as dangerous, carcinogenic disinfection by-products. Thus, this study aimed to investigate the removal of NOM by using coagulation and flocculation via jar tests of the raw water collected from the Chinaimo water treatment plant in Laos.

  • International market selection for conducting exports is based on various trade and economic factors. It is very important to understand how to efficiently trade with another country and to maintain consistency. However, such a consistency is not possible in the case of economics. Therefore, using an efficiency measure helps us to explore and benchmark a country’s exportation businesses. The main goal of this study is to develop an integrated data envelopment analysis (DEA) model to explore the most productive manner through which Vietnam exports goods to other countries.

  • Compressed sensing enables the acquisition of sparse signals at a rate that is much lower than the Nyquist rate. Compressed sensing initially adopted ‘1 minimization for signal reconstruction which is computationally expensive. Several greedy recovery algorithms have been recently proposed for signal reconstruction at a lower computational complexity compared to the optimal ‘1 minimization, while maintaining a good reconstruction accuracy. In this paper, the Reduced-set Matching Pursuit (RMP) greedy recovery algorithm is proposed for compressed sensing.

  • The potential of using anaerobic digestion for the treatment of poultry blood has been evaluated in batch assays at the laboratory scale and in a mesophilic semi-continuous reactor. The biodegradability test performed on residual poultry blood was carried out in spite of high inhibitory levels of acid intermediaries. The use of activated carbon as a way to prevent inhibitory conditions demonstrated the feasibility of attaining anaerobic digestion under extreme ammonium and acid conditions.
