Buckling and postbuckling behaviors of porous functionally graded graphene platelets-reinforced composite (porous FG-GPLRC) cylindrical shells with stiffeners subjected to external pressures are presented in this paper. Three distribution types of porosity in the shells are considered. The smeared technique for stiffeners is employed to model the mechanical behaviors of the stiffened shells.

Green synthesis of nanostructured 1T/2H-MoS2 hybrid phase with polyol solvents and microwave heating
This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of the green microwave technique in producing 1T/2H-MoS2 nanomaterials using polyol solvents. The paper presents a thorough analysis of the structural and property characteristics of the synthesized materials and elucidates the underlying chemical mechanism that governs the formation of hybrid-phase nanostructures. Additionally, the role of polyol solvents in the practical synthesis of nano MoS2 under microwave heating is evaluated and explained.

This work demonstrated the potential of US for mitigating membrane fouling. However, the integration of the US transducers within the membrane system will be a major challenge for the application of US in membrane cleaning. It is more appropriate that US is used as pre-treatment to the membrane system, the transducers can be placed prior to the coagulant feed line. Further work on the determination of the detailed mechanisms associated with enhancing coagulation would enable optimisation of the system with regard to process, cost and energy efficiency.

There were only limited researches on the properties of 3D periodic cellular materials, especially for 3D periodic cellular materials with Schwarz primitive structure which have potential to be used for energy absorption. The objective of this study is to investigate the energy absorption, compressive strength and deformation pattern of the 3D periodic cellular materials with Schwarz primitive structure, which possesses optimum bulk modulus. The study is planned to provide these important research issues of such 3D cellular materials for energy absorption applications.

The numerical wedge splitting tests show that in the case of brittle materials, the lower post-failure stress limit defined in the concrete damaged plasticity model resulted in energy consumption for crack propagation exceeding the defined fracture energy (114% higher in the case of a brittleness number of 4.4).

In this work, we investigated the adsorption mechanism of acetone and toluene on the surface of silicene by the quantum simulation method. To provide high shunt impendence with low power losses, an 81.25 MHz continuous wave (CW) radio frequency quadrupole (RFQ) accelerator has been designed and machined as parts of the Low Energy Accelerator Facility (LEAF). In this paper, the mechanical structure and the main processing technology of the RFQ cavities are described according to the physical and geometric parameters requirements of the RFQ. The fabrication of the RFQ has been completed and the test results agree well with the design requirements.
