The recent advances in the study of the unique capabilities of monolayer crystals had predicted piezoelectricity in two-dimensional (2D) group IV chalcogenides which are not present in their bulk forms. In this study, the predicted piezoelectric properties of was experimentally explored through Piezoelectric Force Microscopy (PFM). Tin Sulfide (SnS), Tin Selenide (SnSe), Germanium Sulfide (GeS), were exfoliated from their bulk forms by the top down methods of liquid sonication, while and Tin Disulfide (SnS2) mechanically exfoliated by tape.

Large ring-shaped forgings manufactured by ring rolling, as heavy as 10 tons, are greatly affected by cooling. In the present study, controlled cooling was performed to improve the mechanical properties of large ring-shaped forgings.

Composite materials show different mechanical properties in different directions which leads to complications in the prediction of their behavior. In addition to being inhomogeneous, behavior of composite materials is highly dependent on the curing process and many studies have tried to address these issues.
