Mechanically plausible

The efficient synthesis of 12-substituted-3,4,4a,5,12,12a-hexahydrobenzo[b]acridine-1,6,11(2H)-triones starting from 2-amino-1,4-naphthoquinone, 1,3-cyclohexanedione, and different (hetero)aromatic aldehydes was developed. These reactions were carried out in acetic acid under microwave irradiation in the presence of p-toluenesulfonic acid as catalyst. The structure of the newly synthesized compounds were confirmed employing spectroscopic data as well as elemental analysis. The plausible mechanism of these three-component domino reactions was also described.

A density functional theory (DFT) study on the hydroxyl radical scavenging properties of Kinsenoside originated from Anoectochilus roxburghii is presented. Two mechanisms, single electron transfer (SET) and hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) are considered. The thermochemical results demonstrate that the SET mechanism is not plausible to occur.

Consequently, many attempts for their synthesis have been made. Olivine LiFePO4 has been studied for more than a decade as a promising cathode material for rechargeable lithium batteries. However, the low electric conductivity and tap density still hinder its large-scale commercialization. Micro-sized LiFePO4 is prepared by an optimized hydrothermal method in this paper. The influence of postannealing on the physicochemical properties of LiFePO4 and FePO4 is investigated to understand the plausible mechanism for performance degradation.

Post transcriptional gene regulation in wheat cultivars caused by boron (B) toxicity has not been reported to date. In this study, two wheat cultivars Bolal-2973 (B-tolerant) and Atay-85 (B-sensitive) were compared with regard to the transcriptional regulation of miR319, miR172 and miR398 and their plausible target genes in order to address differences in their performances under high B levels. The expression levels of Cu/ZnSOD gene were found to be greater in Atay exposed to toxic B compared to Bolal, as verified by stable expression level of miR398.

Milk yield for Holstein cows has doubled over five decades due to genetic selection and changes to management, but the molecular mechanisms that facilitated this increase are mostly unknown. The oxidation reaction of triiodide, I3 −, by chlorate is investigated in a slightly acidic and neutral media. The reaction was verified and monitored both potentiometrically and spectrophotometrically. Generally, a slow linear decay preceded by an induction period was observed for the triiodide concentration following the addition of chlorate. The induction period is likely to be related to the time required for the generation of suitable concentrations of plausible intermediates (HIO and HIO2), which are assumed to auto-catalyse the reaction.

Polymer modified alkali treated jute fibre as a reinforcing agent, substantially improves the physical and mechanical properties of cement mortar with a mix design cement:sand:fibre:water::1:3:0.01:0.6. The photocatalytic oxidation of reactive blue 2 and reactive red 120 has been studied by using TiO2 Degussa P25 as catalyst and UV-light. The formation of intermediate molecules could be predicted on the basic of point charge calculations on all the individual atoms of the dyes. The agreement between calculations from quantum theory and the results of experiments was the background to establish a pathway for degradation of reactive dyes.
