Urinary Tract Infections are among the most common bacterial infections and account for a significant part of the workload in clinical microbiology laboratories. The rate of yield is almost same for all media i.e., Blood Agar, MacConkey gar, C.L.E.D Agar with Andrade’s indicator and Hichrome UTI Agar. The results obtained after various specific biochemical tests and other techniques, were correlated correctly with the presumptive identification results by Hicrome UTI Agar.

In the clinical mycology laboratory, the identification of yeast species is done by screening in specific media, such as chromogenic agar for Candida species and Niger seed agar for Cryptococcus species, both of which are of clinical interest. This study aimed to evaluate the growth and morphological characteristics of yeasts of the Candida and Cryptococcus species in different culture media.

The present study focused on the influence of low pH on growth, specific biochemical parameters and antioxidants amongst Nostoc strains grown under control (pH 7.0) and low pH (pH 4.5) medium. Cell dry weight, chlorophyll content, total soluble proteins and extracellular ammonia release reduced due to low pH stress of growing media compared to control grown cultures. Nitrogenase activity was reduced in two and increased in remaining strains due to low pH.

Tamarindus indica L. is a multipurpose tropical tree used primarily because its fruits and leaves have eatable properties. Both parts of the plant have also medicinal uses, but in the specific case of the leaves, little information about their chemical composition is available. The study was conducted to determine the phytochemical composition and antibacterial activity. Extract of Tamarindus indica leaves, fruit and seed coat powders were prepared in different solvent media viz. aqueous, aqueous methanol.

Pulmonary fungal infections are common potentially life-threatening conditions in immuno-compromised patients. Diagnosis represents a challenge due to the non-specific clinical manifestations. Empirical use of anti-fungal drug therapy has been a burden for years due to high cost and drug toxicity. This study was designed to determine the presence of Candida chest infection in immuno-compromised patients in Tanta University Hospitals. A total of 150 patients with chest infection were selected during the period from June 2015 till June 2017.

Induced Pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) technology is involved in advancing the field of disease modelling and cell transplantation. Stem cell can differentiate under appropriate in vitro and in vivo conditions into different cell types. Under this study, we analysed the establishment of in vitro expression of GATA4 gene in cardiac differentiated canine iPSC. In vitro differentiation of canine iPSCs via embryoid bodies (EBs) was produced by ‘Hanging Drop’ method. EB’s were differentiated by using cardiac differentiation media.

The present study was focused on the biodegradation of pine needles by the production of hydrolytic enzymes viz. cellulase, xylanase, laccase as well as reducing sugars production w.r.t optimization of moisture (Basal salt media) ratio for the newly isolated white rot fungi Phanerochaete sp. The cassava starch production in India is mainly concentrated in small to medium scale factories, which generates 30,000 to 40,000 liters of effluent per tonne of sago produced. The effluent from these industries is acidic and highly organic in nature having COD of 5000 to 7000 mg/l during the season and 1000 to 5000 during the off-season. These effluents pose a serious threat to the environment and quality of life in the both rural and cities.

Body dissatisfaction and disordered eating raise the risk for eating disorders. In the prevention of eating disorders, many programmes have proved partly successful in using cognitive techniques to combat such risk factors. However, specific strategies to actively promote a positive body image are rarely used. The present paper outlines a protocol for a programme integrating the promotion of a positive body image and the prevention of disordered eating.

Community radio station is a promising ICT tool in various developing nations for the rural development. Among the other community media, community radio station has the potential to empower the grassroots people and strengthen the democracy in its operation. These radio stations work on the principle of participatory communication and are the medium of the poorest of the poor. The future of the poor and marginalised section of the society depends on how effectively and efficiently the community media are being utilized to address their specific development and informational needs.

The presence and growth of microorganisms in foods is harmful to human and animal health. The consumption of those foods results in food borne diseases. Thus the major concern is the control of microorganisms to increase the shelf life and prevent harmful microorganisms. Bioactive peptides are known for their ability to inhibit protein-protein interactions due to their small size and specificity. Nature remains the largest source of bioactive peptides since plants, animals, fungi, microbes and their products contain various proteins in them.

This preliminary study shows an innovative concept of searching for peat substitutes on basis of renewable raw materials considering the cultivation in extensive land use in Lower Saxony (Germany). Selecting suitable raw material plants against the background of ecological , social and economic issues followed by testing series including those materials should lead on to reliable results for a planned transition through a spatial analysis of potential areas for cultivation with a specific attention on wetlands.

Freedom of expression has surfaced in large parts of the world, particularly the newly independent nations and the countries that remained in isolation, along with the spread of democracies in those countries. With the rise of free expression of views often contesting with one another, conflicts of different kinds that were under suppression earlier, also emerged. Conflict in itself is considered neither good nor bad but it is judged by its outcome. Study of conflict, specifically the causes behind it relating to power struggle, economic competition, is important for achieving peace.

Nepal has a fairly high adolescent fertility rate and low use of contraception. Lack of contraceptive use is a major contributor to the high rates of unintended pregnancies amongst youth. There is also lack of specific studies dealing with contraceptive behavior among young married women. This study examines the use and determinants of contraceptive methods over the time period of 15 years (2001-2016) among young women in Nepal. Trend and bi-vatiate analysis of this study is based on the Nepal Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS), 2001, 2006, 2011 and 2016 data.

We previously developed Web3D contents that simulate the procedure for assembling a handmade PC. The original motivation for this project was to enable media-informatics students to deepen their understanding of PC hardware. However, it was found that due to their lack of perspective, conveying information that relates to such virtual manufacturing was quite difficult using conventional 2D displays. In this study, we optimized the graphical contents for a stereoscopic environment that would allow proper perspective to be realized.
