Coastal dunes are characterised by plant species adapted to harsh conditions. Salinity and other factors (soil pH, nutrients, and climate events) vary along the landward gradient. The current study investigated the effects of environmental factors on the occurrence and composition of coastal dune plants. Ellenberg ecological indicator values (EIVs), species tolerance values (TVs), and species niche models for salinity, nutrient availability, and soil reaction were determined.

The study reports cultivation, characterization, and seed production of 66 wild V. hispanica genotypes, collected throughout Turkey that represent the available genetic pool. The study was carried out in an unheated greenhouse in Antalya, under Mediterranean climate from December to early June. The populations were evaluated for 21 morphological and 6 agronomic traits.

"Research on the potential of some sweet sorghum genotypes as bioethanol source under Mediterranean conditions" was conducted to determine the potential of bioethanol production from different sweet sorghum varieties under the Çukurova conditions with a Mediterranean climate. Experiments were conducted over two years in 2016 and 2017 on the experimental fields of the Eastern Mediterranean Agricultural Research Institute in Adana province between June and October in randomized blocks design with four replications.

The violet carpenter bee is a species which can chiefly be found around the Mediterranean Sea and the Black Sea. This bee species has rarely been found in Poland, which is the northernmost area of its occurrence. Between 1868 and 1935, the Xylocopa violacea (Linnaeus, 1758) was observed at only 8 locations in Poland. There were then no reports of the occurrence of this bee species in Poland for 70 years. The species was noted again in 2005; between 2005 and 2017, it was noted at 20 locations.

This study was carried out in Mediterranean climate and under rainfed conditions in Turkey for a period of three years throughout the growing seasons of 2014/2015, 2015/2016 and 2016/2017. It was conducted in a randomized complete block experimental design (RCBD) with three replications. In present study, genetic diversity for agro-morphological characters and macro/microelements were investigated in sixteen promising local faba bean genotypes originated from Turkey. According to the results of the study, mean grain yield varied from 2320 kg ha–1 (Tekirdağ-39) to 3130 kg ha–1 (Burdur-50).

: The main goal of this work was to relate the germinative ecology and genetic variability of Chaerolhyllum aureum L., an Apiaceae plant with dormant, underdeveloped embryos at the time of seed dispersal. We compared the seed germination physiology traits between a relictic geographically isolated Mediterranean population (Iberian System; central Spain) and a population located in the main, colder Atlantic Alpine core (Pyrenees; northern Spain). We analyzed both populations’ genetic identity in parallel on the basis of ISSR–PCR analyses.

Durum wheat (Triticum turgidum L. var durum) is tetraploid wheat (AABB); it is the main source of semolina and other pasta products. Grain yield in wheat is quantitatively inherited and influenced by the environment. The genetic map construction constitutes the essential step in identifying quantitative trait loci (QTLs) linked to complex traits, such as grain yield. The study aimed to construct a genetic linkage map of two parents that are widely grown durum cultivars (Lahn and Cham1) in the Mediterranean basin, which is characterized by varying climate changes.

This study explores covariation patterns among diaspore mass, size, morphology, dispersal mode, and spatial dispersal in 78 native coastal dune species. Glyphosate isopropylamine and trifluralin are herbicides widely used in Turkish agriculture. The recommended field dose (RFD) (480 g of active ingredient l-1 for both glyphosate and trifluralin) and 2 × RFD of these herbicides were added to the soil of olive trees (Olea europaea L., Oleaceae) growing on the Çukurova University Campus (Adana) under Mediterranean climate conditions in order to determine their effects on soil microbial activity as measured by carbon mineralization.
